The Appeal

There are show cars, and then there is this - the gleaming, colourful and subversive "Juxtapod". Conceived by Swedish glassblower Ludvig Löfgren - formerly the youngest-ever Master Glass Blower at the Kosta Boda glassworks - and advertising creative Johan Belin, this 1928 Ford Model A Truck is a fusion of two disparate but ever-creative worlds: the centuries-old art of Swedish glassblowing and cutting, and the rebellious spirit of American hot rod culture.

The build was entrusted to Mattias "LeBeef" Andersson of LeBeef Kustom Metalworks in Vargön, Sweden, whose fabrication work underpins the entire project. Throughout the vehicle, Löfgren's hand-blown crystal details appear in the grille insert, velocity stacks, steering wheel and gas tank, each designed to sit within the hot rod aesthetic. The striking paintwork - an ice blue with panels and orange pinstriping - is the work of Ettore "Blaster" Callegaro, whose client list includes Koenigsegg.

Since its debut at the Röhsska Art Museum in Gothenburg in March 2011, the Juxtapod has been displayed at the Växjö Art Museum and the X-treme Car Show in Helsinki, where it collected four awards. The vendor states that the vehicle is built to be fully functioning, though it has never been started, having been preserved and displayed as the art piece it was always intended to be.

This is well beyond your usual hot rod; it's a real trailblazing piece of art that's bound to turn plenty of heads and attract fawning attention. We've never seen anything quite like this at C&C before, and we don't think we'll see anything quite like it again.

The above list speaks plenty, but a piece like this one really needs to be seen to be understood. Beautifully finished in an oh-so-retro Ice Blue, this handsome Model 'A' has been transformed from top-to-bottom, from the gleaming layers of crystal to the impressive white leather interior and swathe of parts from Buick and Chevrolet.

It's a truly imposing range of work - something we've never really seen come to market before, and it's gained quite a reputation in its domestic scene, well worthy of its impressive swathes of trophies and awards.

Built up with a burbling, throaty Chevrolet Big-Block and a 3-speed automatic transmission, this remarkable car maintains its muscular character under the bonnet. The car is a fully working machine, but we understand it's barely been driven, instead having been brought to venues and shows as a glittering centrepiece.

The impressive spec is almost as much of a headturner as the crystal stacks packed under the bay, and whether the lucky new owner intends to drive it or display it, there's plenty to appreciate in the engine bay and spec list.
