The Appeal
The W113 SL’s exquisite interior, notably those big comfortable seats, is a clue to what Paul Bracq’s beautiful Pagoda is all about. This is a car built for cruising America’s interstates and this car’s top 195bhp 2.8L M130 is perfectly matched to the job.
This 1968 car features some choice options that will appeal to enthusiasts. The 14in Mexican Hats are an obvious draw while the 4spd manual box also appeals. It is a smartly presented car in white with matching hard top and black MB Tex interior,
The vendor tells us that the car joined their family in 2005. In 2021 it was despatched to specialist Fastcar for restoration, a €37,000 process that included a full respray and chassis protection. The car has been little used since, being carefully dry stored in a showroom in the intervening years.
Today the paintwork, interior and fittings bear a few cosmetic points that the buyer may wish to attend to. A valuation report from 2025 provides transparency and reassurance. Use as is or add value by improving, the choice is yours.
The vendor says:
“The car is a pleasure to drive and is sure to turn heads. Elegant and comfortable, it perfectly embodies the charm of classic Mercedes cars. In fine weather, it’s also possible to drive without the hardtop, which is a very nice option.”

This car was professionally repainted in 2021 by a classic specialist and has subsequently spent most of the intervening years in a showroom. The bodywork presents well due to this sparing use and the paintwork remains presentable, albeit with some light chips and marks to note. The underside presents well with evidence of protective treatment.
Inside the interior appears largely original, trimmed in black MB Tex with a rear bench seat fitted. The cabin fittings including veneers and chromework show some light age, but it is not unsightly.
Mechanical work carried out during the 2021 restoration, with invoices included
The vendor reports the car starts and runs well
Several short drives completed recently, including a session requiring frequent restarts
The vendor reports good power delivery
The 2.8L M130 engine, delivering close to 200bhp, provides the sporting capability that some of the smaller capacity W113 options don’t quite achieve. This car has the desirable 4spd manual box that exploits the SL’s surprisingly agile handling.
The vendor tells us that this car was mechanically overhauled during the 2021 restoration. Since then it has been little used but started regularly, including recently for a photo shoot. It is said to start and run well. 805-large.jpeg181.45 KB
