Fully restored (body off - bare metal), all rust and previous botched repairs removed and quality metal used to replace/ repair. Work completed September 2021 - with full system recommissioned December 2021 ( brakes engine service, electrics).
This is a February registered 1967, 1300 beetle. There are one or two modifications - it has a lowered and narrowed (4 inches) front beam, with CB performance drop spindles and Geneberg shifter. I do have a set of wide fives that could potentially go with the car if the blingy alloys are not your cup of tea.
Engine rebuilt by Aircooled Engines Scotland in 2018, Paul did an amazing job to keep as much of the original 1300 engine and tidied up the tinware. Serviced by DHT and Solway Campers.
This car is a real head-turner and a joy to pootle around in.
Viewing and/ or inspection welcome as photographs may not always capture the detail
The car has had four (4) former keepers.
It comes with the original sales receipt from Feb 1967 and a smattering of MOT and Servicing documents. I'll try to print out all of the restoration dockets - it wasn't cheap.
Mileage - it has had a trip round the clock - see MOT history. I believe the actualy mileage to be 104, 545 miles.
As mentioned this car has had a full bare metal restoration. It has no rust bubbles and all panels match. The gutters are clean and rust free.
I've had it professionally detailed as there one or two hologram swirls from the restoration - it looks amazing.
You will note I used as many of the original parts as possible in the rebuild, hence one or two nicks in the chrome. You can easily buy a strip and replace it if you want show condition finish - I wanted to retain some originality.
A clean car inside. The headlining is a little 'saggy' round the back window and I have chosen not to install carpets. You will note the cream vinyl seat covers - these were an addition by a previous owner. The original 1960s vinyl is still under them - needs a clean.
Heating has been added to the one side - by choice as it is only driven in the summer months to avoid salty roads and cold temperatures.
Runs as sweet as a nut. I have the professionals service it regularly.
It still has the original 6v set up and drum brakes. All work perfectly and I've seen no need to move away from them. The Geneberg makes it an easier gear change, no stirring porridge to find first - and no accidental reverse selection. Standard four gear and reverse.
