1983 Morgan Plus 8
Built in 1983 and registered 1st January 1984. This Morgan +8 running its original 3. 5 LTR V8 on SU’s is presented in kingfisher blue. A48 GPR was used as the demo model car for “south eastern finecast” one comes with the car. Also it was briefly magazine featured in Autosport after its race at Brands Hatch.
GPR is currently owned by a Morgan enthusiast who raced the car at HSCC Brands Hatch in April 2022. Even though this +8 is a road car it placed 1st overall in the HSCC production 80’s championship which ran alongside the 70’s historic roadsports series. This car can also run in the 70’s roadsports and its time of 58 seconds flat would have placed it 4th overall. Even with bumpers, full tonneau and passenger seat !
Prior to that race weekend, the car was fitted with competition race seat (original still with the car and can be refitted) FIA harnesses, FIA plumbed in fire extinguisher, FIA rain light & exterior / interior cut off handles and an aluminium spare wheel cover & aluminium front lower valance.
Prior to current ownership the car was fitted with braided brake hoses, Koni shock absorbers and tubular exhaust system which are side exit and make a great noise.
A new water pump was fitted along with a fresh set of brake pads / shoes in 2022. The spark plugs, gearbox oil, differential oil & engine oil was also changed at the same time. A set of competition tyres also come with the car & a new set of road tyres are currently fitted.
Having covered some 86k miles the car is in wonderful condition with superb paintwork. Weather gear still fits perfectly, the car drives great and will be missed. Open to P/ X.
