Mechanically spot on. Runs and drives as it should. Starts first turn of the key. No leaks. No overheating. No smoking. Idles in the correct manner. Lambda light is on, but does not affect the car in any way. Only just running in at 194k Miles!

Engine pulls well throughout the rev range, with no hesitation or power loss.

Turbo spools up and engages as it should, with no untoward sounds.

The bullet proof Automatic Gearbox changes smoothly and kicks down fine. All gears select as they should and there is no whining.

Suspension is supple and smooth, as it should be on a 940. Irons out all road bumps. Slight knock from an anti roll bar link. Turning circle is great and on par with a London taxi.

Brakes are excellent. Stop the car perfectly fine with no shuddering.

Good tyres all round.

Not new, not perfect, not a show winner! Has a few battle scars around the body and has been used as a workhorse, but a reliable one at that.

In good condition for the year, and cleans up very well. Has marks, blemishes, dents and stone chips as to be expected. A couple of marks on the bumpers. A few minor scratches. Lacquer has peeled on the bonnet, roof and doors (common on the colour). A few rust spots here and there, but no major rot. There is a patch to the left of the rear number plate which has grazed and lifted along with some dents. Front bumper and lower lip is a bit loose on the OSF. But she is all there and in one piece!

The interior is in decent condition, and a true testament to the Volvo build quality of this era. The seats are solid, supportive and extremely comfortable. Driver's seat has some splits and marks, the passenger seat has a few blemishes and there is general wear on the leather. The door cards have lifted - common on a 940 and show me one that hasn't! Head lining has a few marks.

Everything works as it should. There are no other warning lights on the dashboard. The heater warms the car up like a Swedish sauna. Air conditioning is cool, but would benefit from a re-gas to be ice cold.

A solid example of a dying breed - these Volvo 940 models will survive an apocalypse. They were designed for the harsh Scandinavian winters and always start on the coldest of winter mornings. They always get you where you need to go.

Mechanically simple, no complex sensors or computers to go wrong. These things genuinely go on forever, and drive the same at 100k miles as they do at 300k miles. I have had several over the years, at different mileages and if they have been looked after like this one has, they all drive as good as a low mileage example.
