LOTUS ELISE
Selling my series Elise. This was the dream car but due to lack of use it is time to sell.
First registered on May 01, 1999 with four previous owners (before myself). I purchased the car in February 2017.
In fantastic cobalt blue paintwork, cream leather seats, blue roof and black Rimstock wheels. Tyres are Yokohama Advan AD08R (225 / 45 / 16 on the rear and 195 / 50 / 15 on the front).
The care has a private plate that comes with the car. It was on it when I purchased the car and will stay with the car.
The only mechanical modifications are an aftermarket air filter and exhaust. These were fitted before my purchase so I don’t know the brands. I have the original airbox that will go with the car.
I have removed the rubber mats from the footwells as these are known to allow water between them and the floor and cause corrosion. There are no holes in the floor. I’ve not painted them so nothing is hidden. There is some minor pitting as expected. Again, I have kept the rubber mats and are available for the new owner if wanted. Official Lotus carpet mats fitted.
The switches for lights have been replaced with the Elise Shop replacement switches (- details above). These are a known weakness and original replacements are not available. Again, I have kept the original parts to go with the car.
The suspension has been upgraded to the Elise S2 Bilsteins including recommended settings. This work was completed by Paul Matty not long after my purchase back in 2017.
Service History (In my ownership):
March 2017 - Paul Matty - Checkover / Healthcheck
July 2017 - Paul Matty - Supply & Fit Bilstein suspension. Carry out geometry alignment, Replace ball joint boots, Replace reverse light switch.
September 2020 - HPE Automotive - C Service (Cambelt etc)
May 2021 - Allon White - Hood overhaul
June 2022 - Classic Sports Cars - Annual service including brake fluid, replacement oil filler cap and ball joint boot kit.
There are invoices for work carried out before my ownership included which all add up to a good service history.
Overall, the car is in excellent condition both inside and out; apart from some marks and stone chips. The car is 24 years old after all. See the pictures for the main defects:
- Stone chip near drivers side headlamp
- Fine mark near the Elise sticker on the rear clam
- Mark near where the canvass roof attaches
- The sill cover on the drivers side has a wear small hole in the fabric
This is a superb Lotus which is very much ready to be enjoyed. The only reason I’m selling is that I just don’t use it to warrant keeping it. This can be seen by the lack in miles added since I purchased it back in 2017. The Lotus Elise was a dream and attainable car that I always wanted. Although not the best time this appeared for sale at the wrong end of the country but I was smitten and purchased it.
I will never forget that drive home in February in the dark. What an amazing experience. However, the reality of owning something as focused as the Elise meant time available to drive it was limited.
I've now decided it is time to sell it on for someone to enjoy it properly. There is no point leaving it sat in the garage.
