Description

Moto Guzzi Cafe Racer which I started to build over 10 years ago then it didn't progress for a number of years and then restarted to completion approx 7 years ago and it's been used intermittently over these past years (clock started originally at 16, 432mls)         Modified Tonti frame with removed bottom frame rails and shortened rear rails to suit short single seat. To give extra bracing there is a thick alloy battery plate and a shear plate between engine/ gearbox and frame. 1100 Sport engine, Laverda Paioli USD forks, Ohlins fully adjustable rear shocks. Keihin FCR 41 carbs and Carillo con rods. Elektronik Sachse crank mounted ignition, motogadget M unit - so no relays or fusebox and push button handlebar switches, lithium battery. Elliot electronic rev counter. Agostini rearsets, Alloy petrol tank, fibreglass seat unit and fairing (cut down Hyde Harrier) with twin headlamps which has frenched in led indicators - the rears are in the rear frame tubes. Back end recently removed to check clutch which is hardly worn, UJ is still good as is the drivebox driveshaft splines and all regreased. Brand new BT46 tyres. The brakes are still linked and the single front disc on it's own is incredibly good and all together excellent stopping power. Full stainless exhaust system with factory downpipes, slightly modified crossover and Keihan Conti replicas silencers (these are exactly like the original Conti's with the cheese grater raised baffle tube) This bike goes incredibly well and as with all the 1100 motors gives effortless ride but with those FCR (genuine and not the Chinese copies although apparently the latter are very good) the power is instant (Amadeo of Raceco told me 23+ years ago that they are the closest thing to having fuel inj) but the bike will happily pootle along in 5th at 30/ 35mph and dependently will return anywhere between 40 - 50 mpg. People always think it looks a long stretch to the bars but I'm only 5'9" and I can honestly say it's one of the most comfortable cafe racers I've built and the clip ons have some adjustment. The negatives - there is a very very tiny chip on the front edge of the mudguard and also a very very tiny chip on the bottom edge of the seat unit. The paint has two bubbles in it around the aircraft filler cap caused by fuel but they've been there a while and not got any worse. Oh yeah the throttle grip has split at the end. Please feel free to call and chat if you are interested thanks. JohnBuilt by myself with frame mods done by a professional fabricator / welder. This bike has been used and shows minor signs of use. I'm not a avid polisher and it was never built to just show etc
