Description

1500 Deluxe Mk1 Cortina. Great car, very useable and ready to drive away.

New parts/ work in the last 4 months include retro-ford lotus 6j rims with new tyres, brand new (less than 100 miles now) adjustable Gaz coilovers and rear adjustable shocks, new lower ball joints, lowering blocks, brand new propshaft, U-joints and gearbox seal, complete wiring overhaul, new halogen headlights, quarter bumpers fitted, new generator and windscreen washer pump. Receipts for all work. The new adjustable suspension has made it drive like another car - not the wallowing mess that came out of the Dagenham factory.

Interior is mostly good, has had some new door cards done recently but they aren't in original colour, but they look fine. Has had new carpet and headlining, but the drivers seat has a small tear in the vinyl, and the passenger one has a tiny hole. Rear is pretty good. All dashes/ dials and switches work fine - just the interior light doesn't work.

Very original and honest - so obviously paintwork has patina and various bits of filler etc, but no rot or rust beyond some surface bits here or there and some on the driver door window frame. Boot floor looks brand new! Has had past repairs (what cortina hasn't), but very solid underneath - zero work needed on that front. Tax/ MOT exempt but had it in for inspection/ work very recently and all good.

Engine pulls well, tight gearbox and clutch, and will happily sit at 60-65 (pretty good for a 60 year old car). Have been told the engine needs the camshaft seal replacing as there's a slight oil leak, but I've had no issues with it and it doesn't seem to lose oil - I do have all the seals/ gaskets etc needed to go in if you were to do this. Will also need a new exhaust at some point as current one has been sleeved in the centre (sounds great though). Stops fine (for 60's brakes), and seems to have had new brake lines put in quite recently.

Have all parts to put back to standard if needs be including original wing mirrors, front bumper, shocks, springs, wheels, hubcaps etc. Also have some GT components like manifold/ intake/ carb to go with it.

Message me for any details or to arrange a viewing. A great, usable classic car which turns heads everywhere you go!I bought it around 6 months ago as I've always loved the mk1 cortina styling.

I wanted one I could use but not worry about too much paintwork wise - one I could do regular miles in and go to plenty of shows, or just take to the shops.

The fact the paintwork is all original, and it isn't a restored example causes people to flock to it at shows - always getting the classic "my dad had one of these" (people genuinely walk past much more prestigious cars to come and look at mine).

I've done some cosmetic work to get it looking how I want - but I've kept everything if the new owner wanted to put it back to standard - but I think it looks fantastic and has a great stance (and you can still go over speed bumps).

Unfortunately with all these things, needs must, and I have to let it go.
