Description
For sale is one of our ZT260's, Vin number 069 in Trophy blue. 84k miles, MOT til March 24. I purchased the car during the first Covid lock down as a project, she needed some recommissioning. Being a massive fan of these cars and having owned 2 previously I had to purchase and save it from the slippery slope!
When I purchased the car it was heavily modified with large 20 inch rims, lowered suspension and some amazing airbrushing to the paint work. It had also been modified under the bonnet with an upgraded plenum, throttle body, upgraded inlet manifold and modified exhaust system including bespoke headers. However, the car ran very poorly as a result of these modifications due to the fuelling not being aligned. This has been resolved by Chris at Retro Sports cars (Chris being the font of all knowledge on anything ZT260) with him changing out the bespoke headers for "flowed" stock items (They where poorly executed), reinstating the catalytic converters with high flowing performance items (original units had been removed) and building a bespoke fuelling map. It now runs and drives superbly and revs beautifully all the way thru the rev range and really does get down the road well compared to a stock 260.
Further works I have completed since owning the car include:
1. Front & rear disks/ pads replaced with new items, fronts are drilled items from the 260 club with EBC green stuff pads.
2. Replacement front & rear suspension springs with VHS handing items - this has transformed the cars handing & removed the rather crude lowering springs fitted
3. ABS Pump refurb - common failure point
4. Rear subframe refurb - completed by the MGOC workshop
5. Replacement exhaust systems (front and rear Y sections)
6. Rear differential service
7. Correct fitment wheels - Removing all spaces etc. Now running brand new 18 inch Bolas with new tyres all-around. Staggered look with 245's on the rear
8. 4 wheel alignment
9. Full service including coil packs and plugs now due an oil change but will get this sorted before new owner takes away
10. Respray of bonnet, boot, spoiler, sills, roof and wing mirror skull caps
11. Headlining removal and refurb - NO sagging!
12. Custom dials with Blue LED back lighting by Rick at MG Customs
13. Upgraded headlights to good used set of Mk1 Xenon's
14. Rear light seals replaced - No leaks
15. Sunroof drain modification - No leaks
16. Upgraded touch screen Sony stereo with reversing camera
17. Replacement radiator and coolant change
The car comes with History since I have owned, afraid the previous owner did not keep any service history. However, when I first purchased the car I did track down the previous owner who did all the modifications and turned the car into a "show" vehicle. He confirmed the clutch had been replaced during his ownership - No proof of this but I can confirm no issues
As you can see from the pictures the car does still have some of the original art work remaining to the coach strips, door handles, front and rear bumpers and dashboard. We decided to leave this in place as a nod to its history and the fact that it creates a 1 off/ unique look. I appreciate it won't be to everyone's tastes and could very easily be put back to its original trophy blue colour scheme if required. The car really does need to be seen to be appreciated - the body work and interior are in superb condition with very little wear to the drivers seat bolster.
Its also worth noting that the car has also had an aircon delete, again by the previous owner due to the bespoke headers being installed - no room! As I said above, these headers have now been removed and should the new owner want to reinstate it now has the space in the engine bay to do so, The compressor and condenser are all in situ so would not take too much to source the parts and implement.
Lastly, I do have a set of original wheels available if the new owner prefers - these have recently been refurbished and have a good set of Continental tyres fitted. I would be happy to swap these out for the Bola wheels if preferred.
This car has been a labour of love and now needs a new owner, I am sure I have missed many things I have worked on. I have several other projects that need attention and its such a shame for this fantastic car to not get used as much as it should. It does come with a valid MOT thru till March 2024. Open to sensible offers.
