Description
1958 Jaguar MK V111 Automatic, finished in Rolls Royce regal red over mist grey , with original grey leather.. this lovely well documented car was delivered on the 3rd of January 1958 to a Major john Lycett Wills who owned the car until 1968, when it was sold to his gardener who owned the car until 1980. The car was acquired by the last owner in 1996 ( he was the founder of the JEC) after one attempt at restoration between 1996 and 1997 which failed . The car in 1998 was entrusted to Mike Mercer at Autoclassico for a lengthy and stunning restoration, the car had 340 hours spent on it attending to the bodywork, the woodwork was entrusted to Phil Cooper of P W Cooper who did a superb job with all the chrome going to Vintage Pating of Daventry. The car was eventually finished in April 2004 after the fitment of electronic power steering and the fitment of a series 3 XJ6 gearbox, the brakes were also upgraded making this a very useable and accomplished car to be enjoyed today.
Over the last 18 years the car has attended many JEC events in the hands of its enthusiastic owner, one highlight was leading out the Mike Hawthorn commemorative run through the streets of Farnham.
