Triumph, GT6 Mach 2, 1968, in yellow with full leather interior and mohair Webasto roof.
I have owned this car for approximately seven years and prior to my ownership, the car was completely rebuilt between 1999 and 2001 to concourse standard. This was a full body of restoration with new special order bonnet, Door skins wings and sills all replaced..
The respray was back to bare metal, and was, and still is to concourse standard. Bearing in mind, this work was carried out some 22 years ago, the paint is still virtually unmarked with absolutely no rust whatsoever showing. The chassis was painted at the same time the correct black colour and the car was re-trimmed using GT6 mark three seats in full leather, new headlining, all new wool bespoke Carpets and a new maple dash with cream dials.
The engine was completely stripped and rebuilt to a faster road specification to include six branch, exhaust, inch and three-quarter SU carburettors on a stage to camshaft, and obviously a new bearings.
Gearbox and overdrive was rebuilt at the same time.
The differential was replaced also.
The front suspension is all Polly bushed with slightly lower strongest Springs and Spax adjustable shock absorbers, as are the rear shock absorbers.
The car has been subject to Triumph magazine write-ups, and has won a number of rosettes at Triumph gatherings.
There are photographs in the service history of the total restoration, together with swatches of the leather interior roof lining, and Carpets, et cetera.
I have never seen such service history and records of spending on a car ever before hence the reason why I fell in love with it seven years ago.
In my ownership, I have completely overhauled the front trunnions with a new Trunnionless system together with all new ball, joints and track rod ends.
It has recently had new alternator, servo assistance added to the brakes and updated wheel studs to accommodate the larger 15 inch mini light wheels and 175 profile tires all round.
Previously, when the car was set up after being rebuilt, it was showing 100 brake horsepower at the wheels.
There are two large A4 box files, full of receipts for the total restoration and every item added to the car since, and these receipts add up to in excess of £20, 000 for the works carried out to date.
The car drives extremely well with the overdrive, clicking in an out correctly, excellent oil pressure, and with the aluminium rated radiator never shows a sign of overheating.
The front calipers and discs were also replaced along with the servo unit within the last 200 miles.
The car wants or needs for nothing and has been a pleasure to own this last seven years.
I have since retired and need something a little easier to get in and out of, hence the only reason for letting this beauty go.
