1999 TVR CHIMAERA 400, ENGINE REBUILD, NEW OUTRIGGERS, ETC FOR SALE
Mk2 car in Venice Blue with Portland grey / Midnight Blue interior, 90k miles. Common risk points addressed (engine, chassis, ECU, fuel lines, suspension, brakes, interior) this is a well maintained example that is ready to be used. Kept garaged and regularly serviced by TVR specialists with all invoices retained and a massive history file, including the original owners’ handbook and service file which has been stamped up as fully as it can be. The current MOT runs to October 2023
Engine rebuild completed by TVR Power (incl. pistons, rods, cam, bearings), Canems upgraded digital ECU, AGM battery (recently new) and isolator switch, Meta 2 alarm with remote boot release, 2 sets of keys. Outriggers have been replaced, all wishbones have been refurbished and shocks replaced with ProTech double adjustables (the rears are brand new). Uprated driveshafts and CV joints last winter, this car also has the T5 gearbox and a new clutch (incl. slave and master).
Brakes upgraded to 300 mm AP Racing 4 pot calipers (T-car derived e. g. Tuscan etc) with fresh G-Hook discs and DS2500 pads, discs and pads to rear at the same time; it has also recently had a brake fluid reservoir (they split as the sun/ UV gets to them through the bonnet vents and degrades the plastic) which are becoming very hard to find.
Under the bonnet, modern ignition using Canems coilpacks with MSD superconductor HT leads & titanium socks and Bosch idle control. RV8 temperature sender and new oil pressure sender means the oil pressure and coolant temperature readings are bang on where they should be. Coolant hose renewal and radiator replacement in previous ownership, plus the Subaru Impreza PAS upgrade (running at present from the original Rover PAS pump). Valley gasket, sump gasket & rocker covers all renewed recently and engine mounts replaced. Fuel hoses have been addressed for E10 front and rear.
Outside, the car has had a Mk 3 headlight conversion with H4 halogen bulbs and 17” wheels added to house the bigger brakes, with Rainsport 5 tyres from 2019/ 20 still with plenty of tread; gold refurbed TVR badges but is otherwise original. Interior has been refurbished with new carpets, carbon fibre skinned dash; Leven switchgear, new leather gear gaiter, upgraded seatbelts with multiangle retractor (no locking when parked on a slope). CD/ USB/ DAB radio.
