Good Home wanted for my friend Pauls Morris Minor 1000

*** SENSIBLE OFFERS INVITED AND WILL BE CONSIDERED***

WYK802H was registered new on 21 May 1970. Known affectionately as "William", he was found on e-bay 2 years ago by me (Anthony) for our friend Paul who had wanted a Morris Minor for as long as I can remember !

I knew that Paul wanted a genuine car, one that hadn't had too many owners, that hadn't been 'boy raced' (is it possible to boy-race a Minor?!!), and that was as original as possible. The hunt was on !

William was owned by his previous keeper from 5 September 1981 until 23 July 2021 - a few months shy of FORTY years. John and his wife found the Morris Minor in a showroom and bought him there and then. John told me that he waxoiled the Morris in the first few months of ownership and he tried never to take it out in the rain if possible. John also had a second more modern car and the Morris was kept in their carpeted integrated garage while the 'modern' was out on the driveway.

John lost his wife in 2020 and decided that, as he was 85 years old, he ought to sell the Morris. He told me the car has never been resprayed, it is all original. In fact, it still has the exhaust that was on the car when John bought it in 1981 !!!!

Unfortunately John did not keep any of the service records, invoices, receipts, or MOT documents. However one of his friends was a mechanic, so the Morris was serviced regularly and any parts replaced (or repaired) as necessary. The Morris was always garaged when not in use and you can tell it is a genuine un-molested car.

The DVLA MOT History can be found online to help confirm the mileage.

The Morris was MOT'd on 5 July 2023 and is valid until 4 July 2024. It is actually MOT and Tax exempt, however I always have my cars MOT'd for peace of mind, and to ensure that they actually are road legal !

There are some advisories, listed as below:

-?????service brake fluctuating, but not excessively, nearside front
-?????brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material - both nearside and offside front
-?????leaf spring has slight wear in a shackle pin and / or bush - both nearside and offside rear
-?????Wheelbearing slightly noisy - nearside front
-?????suspension component pin or bush slight worn - nearside front upper (trunion bush)

Our local garage carried out some repairs to the brakes before William was MOT'd, namely "strip brakes, clean / adjust, trace fault with braking system - rear brake house collapsed. Supply and fit new rear brake hose, bleed system". This work, together with the MOT, cost £320. 17.

In February 2022 William had some engine work carried out as his head gasket was leaking - the cylinder head was removed, skimmed and refitted. There is a receipt to show this work carried out.

As William was in such superb original condition, my mate Paul took him to Charles Ware, the Morris Minor Centre in Brislington, Bristol in August 2021 and had the underside wire-brushed and undersealed, also with a wax-injection taking place. This cost was £261, invoice to prove.

The reason for sale is that Paul has a full time job, he is a drummer in a band and has loads of gigs on weekends, and spends time helping his parents who are in their 80's. He doesn't get the time to drive William that he wants, and rather than leave him in a locked garage he feels it would be best if William found a new loving home for his next journey!

He's not even clocked round to 48k yet and so is barely run in. Everything about William is genuine, from 1981 to 2021 he had furry seat covers on to protect his seats. There is a small cigarette burn on the front passenger seat. Original carpets. Original interior. Drivers seatbelt is a little worn.

I have loads more photos and videos that I can send to you - please just ask.

We are looking for offers around £6, 495 and feel that this is a very realistic and genuine price for a superb vehicle. As the saying goes - "they are only original once" !!

The Morris is dry stored at my parents which is in a small village called Rodney Stoke nr Cheddar. I live in Portishead which is aprox 1 hr from mum & dads. If you want any further info or details please give me a ring on the details below.

Thank you for taking the time to read my ad.

With kind regards from Anthony

** NB ** I also have a 1971 Austin 1300 Super Deluxe 4dr Saloon in Glacier White with Navy Interior, MOT'd to October - needs engine work (A-series BMC engine) as it uses oil. Believed to be GT Engine (11 stud). Please contact me for further info - cheers, Anthony
