Description
Triumph Stag MVF398K was first registered in January 1972. It is Sapphire blue with Shadow blue trim, manual transmission and overdrive. It has the Triumph V8 engine with Stromberg carburettors. Tyres are Vredestein Sprint Classic 185/ 14 with 5-6 mm tread. MOT until 29/ 03/ 2024.
We bought the car in May 2012 to use it for touring holidays in UK and Europe. In our eleven year ownership we have covered nearly 52000 miles from Scotland to Sicily with very few problems.
The car drives superbly and looks and sounds great. It is corrosion free.
Many important mechanical improvements have been made - too many to list here. A list of all work done is available on request.
The main improvements are:- Major engine rebuild in 2012; Stainless steel exhaust with Zircotec coated tubular manifolds; Hi-torque starter motor; Adjustable dampers; High output alternator; Bare metal external respray in 2016; LED stop/ tail and indicator lights with hazard warning lights; Magnecor ignition leads and Lumenition ignition system; Aluminium radiator with header tank and electric fan; CV jointed drive shafts (great on mountain hairpins!); Complete rewire with new harness; New mohair hood; Reconditioned overdrive.
To make long distance touring holidays more enjoyable the rear seat space has been converted into a second lockable boot. This roughly triples the available boot space. In 2019 we completed a five week tour of Italy and France (3700 miles) with almost no need of a launderette! The rear seat, included in the sale, can be easily reinstated in about 20 minutes.
The car will come with a hard-top on a stand which we have never used and which would need restoration. A fairly comprehensive set of touring spares will be included in the sale.
It is reluctantly offered for sale - advancing years you know - at the realistic price of £22750.
