Advertised for sale is this UK home market 1968 Jaguar E-Type type S1. 5 FHC in its original colour of Opalescent Silver Blue, with navy blue leather interior. The S1. 5 cars are considered quite desirable as they are in the cross over period between the S1 and S2 cars. This particular example is identical to a S1 but without the covered headlights.
Back in the mid 2000s it was subject to a restoration. Over the last few years many new parts have been fitted which are documented, and more recently has been re commissioned for the road and benefitted from the following:
* New brake cylinders and pads at the rear and a new brake line between the master and slave cylinders. Also new pads up front and new cylinders.
* Ported cylinder head with larger intake valves, bronze valve guides, unleaded seats and D type reprofiled camshafts.
* Full classic fabs stainless steel long branch manifold exhaust system (sounds fantastic).
* Carbs cleaned out, set up and rebuild kit fitted.
* Aluminium radiator and SPAL electric fan.
* Exterior paint refresh.
The car has been set up on the rolling road and produced a very healthy 221 BHP and 285 ft/ lbs of torque, have the print out for this.
There is a history folder present and includes a jaguar heritage certificate stating the car is as left the factory and matching numbers. This E type drives and performs without fault, and is ready for its new owner to enjoy.
