1986 Astra 1. 3L 5 DR. One owner and an incredible 20250 miles. Will need recommissioning.
Supplied new by Allam Motor Services in Epsom and first registered January 6th, 1986. Finished in Carmine Red with Grey trim.
This is quite a remarkable surviving example of a car that was very popular in its day and the staple of any aspiring sales rep, literally thousands were on our roads in the 80’s but today it would appear that only 10 cars of this model and year remain.
It’s also quite unusual to find a Carmine Red example that hasn’t faded to pink, testimony to the car being very well cared for and garaged throughout its whole life.
An extremely solid car that has had some light welding repairs to the sills, most notably to the OS sill and will require some sympathetic attention to this area along with part of the wheel arch. The paintwork is mostly original, asides the OS that has been painted at some point in the past.
The floors, front wings, inner wings, boot area and doors are in great original condition with no perforation at all. Same with the roof, which can also be a problem area on these models.
The Pierburg 2E carburettor has been professionally rebuilt and the mechanical fuel pump replaced, fuel tank drained, and fresh fuel installed. It starts fine and the engine is as sweet as you’d expect from such a low mileage example. The carburettor will need setting up properly for the car to idle smoothly. The battery has also been replaced. The front callipers are sticking and will need an overhaul.
The headlining will need to be recovered due to fabric shrinkage and the parcel shelf will require a repair but would appear to be an easy DIY job for someone practically able.
The V5 was misplaced a long time ago and I have a Motor Check report to verify the full details and ownership. A V62 will need to be applied for to obtain a new V5 which is an easy enough process.
In summary, this is a great opportunity to acquire an easy project and whilst not a GTE is most definitely much rarer!
