VERY reluctant sale - 3. 5L (3219cc) straight 6 petrol engine (100bhp), only 3 previous owners. 1971 (K reg)
Road tax & MOT EXEMPT.
One of the last of the 'big' civilian ambulances build on 'J' type truck chassis and powered by the well proven 214 cu. inch six cylinder OHV petrol engine. Hawson stringer body in alluminium with fibreglass front end and fibreglass roof and believed to be 1 of only 2 left like this in the world, Semi-forard control, split windscreen, sliding cab doors. 'Autolube' chassis fabrication (self oiling chassis), servo assisted brakes. Was in service as ambulance in Lancashire are until early 1979, carrying fleet No89. Sold in 1979 to gentleman who intended to convert to a motorhome but didnt complete, then sold again in 1986 and used as exhibit at vintage vehicle shows then stored in barn since 1993. We bought Her in 2021. We have done lots of work on engine etc to get
Her engine running again and She is now roadworthy again.

New brake master cylinder - New delco cap, rotar arm & powerspark 6 cylinder electronic ignition kit - New ignition coil - New choke cable - New HT Leads - New thermostat and housing gasket - New twin pulley water pump - New Delco Vacuum unit - New rocker cover gasket - Fresh oil and oil filter - brake servo repair kit - rear antiroll bushes ends & centre - New spark plugs - New water hoses - New Bosche battery and new battery box - New foot pedal rubbers - New side mirrors - New plywood flooring with LVT (luxury vinyl flooring tiles) - Fuel tank and lines cleaned
Radiator bottom panel repaired with stainless steel - New Claytonrite rubber seals replaced on all the side windows – glass replaced with toughened glass and limo tinted, - Lanoguard protection applied underneath van - clutch, gear box and engine all run beautiful - Interior panels removed and wood framework varnished (wood is like day it was built – no rot) - Paint on sides have been stripped back to the alluminium,
Included in sale - Interior roof lining panels with the metal trims, original roller blinds, folding seat and medical cupboard from her ambulance days, replacement claytonrite rubbers included for the backdoor and cab side windows (except the windscreen ones which are bigger size) 2 brand new Fiamma roof vents still in boxes and vehicle cover still in the box are also included with the van. Parts are easy to obtain and a great network of Bedford enthusiast for advice online
