Beschreibung
For sale is my recently converted 1978 Sebring MGB GT V8.
The car has only covered 80k miles and was an extremely solid, well looked after car before I started the conversion in 2020, needing only very minor rust repairs to a small section at the top of the A pillar where it meets the front wing.
I built the car to be a comfortable cruiser, not a race car, but it would probably do quite well on a track day or two if you fancied it. I love the curves of the Sebring kit and I also wanted to get extra room for wider wheels. The gloss black really does contrast beautifully with the tan interior and makes for a very classy looking classic MG.
Specs:
Exterior
The car has been converted to a Sebring replica with fibre glass front wings, rear arches, front and rear valance and MG RV8 bonnet which has then been finished off in gloss jet black paintwork.
The car sits on brand new 15x8j alloy wheels with Firestone tyres and has uprated modernised LED headlights (Original Lucas units come with the car if these aren’t to your liking) and a new chrome grill with fins painted black.
Engine
The engine has been uprated to a 3. 9 Rover V8 which is running on the 14 CUX electronic fuel injection. This has been converted to the earlier type front timing cover and oil pump along with the matching pulleys, water pump and MGB V8 alternator. It has also been converted to remote oil filter located on the inner wing and has been fitted with an original MGB V8 radiator. Both the rocker covers and inlet plenum have been painted black and polished back to reveal the ribs and details in the castings.
Gearbox
The power is delivered through a Rover SD1 LT77 5 speed manual gearbox connected to the standard MGB rear axle, upgraded to a 3. 07:1 crown wheel and pinion from Moss. It also has a new MGB Hive conversion prop shaft fitted. The clutch and flywheel are also from a Rover SD1 and it has been fitted with a new SD1 slave cylinder with braided hose.
Axle
The diff was , which makes for a much more comfortable cruising speed.
Exhaust
The exhaust is a full Clive Wheatley big bore system with stainless steel RV8 tubular manifolds running into a stainless steel single silencer system. (Sounds wonderful)
Suspension
The front has lowered and uprated springs while the rear has chrome bumper leaf springs and Spax adjustable dampers.
Brakes
The front brakes have been uprated to MGB V8 discs and callipers and green stuff pads and all hoses front and back have been uprated to steel braided ones.
Interior
The interior is finished in a beautifully contrasting tan vinyl on the front and rear seats, door cards and dash with a matching leather gear lever gaiter. The gear knob is solid billet aluminium for the 5 speed gearbox. It has brown carpets throughout the car with sound deadening and insulation underneath.
The stereo has also been uprated with new Pioneer Bluetooth handsfree head unit and 4 matching pioneer door speakers.
The steering wheel is a 3 spoke finished in black leather.
Extra
All door tailgate and glassing seals have been replaced with new apart from the tailgate glass. This includes a new seal being fitted to a fully refurbished tilting glass sunroof. The car is also fitted with black pressed aluminium number plates front and back.
There are probably more details I’m missing, but this car has wanted for nothing and I built it with the intention of keeping it for touring the UK and Europe, but other projects mean I need to free up the funds, so I hope it will go to someone who will use it and enjoy it as much as I had hoped to. Any further details or info, please feel free to get in touch.
