This a rare and desirable model with the ultra-rare sequential manual gearbox. It’s a love it or hate it thing and they’re often misunderstood but if you’ve got a good one, like this, it’s a rewarding and engaging drive with super smooth gear changes and sharp performance. It’s had all the mechanical and electronic gremlins ironed out of it and it’s an example you can buy with confidence. It’s even got a BMW two-year warranty on the new SMG pump and the super-quick gearbox is used either by the central shifter or steering wheel paddles, with a sport button option to liven things up. It’s a two-pedal set up, if you’re not aware.
I am a BMW enthusiast and I had to own this car when I saw it. I’m after another van and need to move this on, not for financial reasons but for space and while it’s not the cheapest e46, it’s a fabulous example and a delight to drive. The hard work has been done and the expensive bits sorted, so buy it and love it as I have. It’s quick and very willing with excellent performance. Drive it and you’ll understand.
