For Sale, Lancia Fulvia 1969 Rally 'S' - Import from South Africa in 2019. Complete in all Taxes and Duty fees paid. Paper work and registered with DVLA in my name .
I seen the car advertised and was local to me , so I went to take a look. Owning a Fulvia Rally 'S' already I knew this model was not that common , being a factory RHD as well . When I seen the car for the first time I noticed how complete and original the car looked with no noticeable repairs to the body, you cold see what needed to be done . Being so complete with all trims clips and fixing all fitted and in good condition , the interior was very complete , the engine bay the same having the oil cooler and remote braking system fitted on the Rally 'S' model. The wheel hub caps and rim trims/ bumpers door and window seal all looked in very good original condition . So being so complete I had to have it.
I wanted to confirm all the paper work for the car was correct so my first job was to send all the paper work to DVLA for registering and get my log book and registration . It was very straight forward even to the point the DVLA sent a Inspector to check the car , He was happy with everything and within a few days my log book and registration was sent to me . RCD 352G.
I now started to remove the parts for the restoration , bagging and tagging all the screws clip clamps and bolts . I knew all four jacking points needed repairing , so removing the front sub-frame I replaced sub-frame box sections and the jacking points were cut away all rusty metal and replaced with new metal adding as much strength to the surrounding areas to make it as strong as possible.
The rear jacking points received the same treatment . The outer body was not that bad apart from the rear light panel , which I replaced with a new panel. The arches were not not completely gone so cutting away the bad areas and replacing with repair arch sections . I also then repaired the inner arches on the front putting back the strength securing the inner and outer arches together . All repairs were seem welded and on the outer body seem welded and led loaded .
I restored the front sub-frame , finding no rust damage areas making it a very easy job . I replaced the shocks resurfaced the discs and inspected all the bushes to find all in very good condition . The rear axle again was in very good condition , resurfacing the rear discs and fitting new shocks . New brake pads were fitted front and rear . I replaced the steering arms and track rod ends .
The doors and bonnet are aluminium , the boot lid is steel for some reason . I could only find one for sale at the time in Holland for 4K or something crazy like that . So I repaired the lower edge , removing all the rusted metal and replaced with new metal and led loaded . I did see some time after a aluminium boot lid for sale for £50 , but was to late it had gone . So they do come p from time to time .
I sent the car for a full re-spray and on return refitted everything , taking my time , all suspension bolts were acid dipped and painted , all trims / clip/ clamps/ screws/ window and door seals were cleaned and carefully refitted , trying to use as much of the original parts and fixing as possible , but if not re-useable I wold replace.
Having the factory remote servo and brake master cylinder new seal kit , it still did not function correctly . I had previously brought a new remote servo and the correct 19mm brake master cylinder from a well know Lancia parts supplier for my other Rally 'S' and having not got around to fitting them I used them on this car . The engine had new pistons , new intake and exhaust valve full inspection and clean and paint complete new gasket set fitted . The carburettors were treated to a ultrasonic bath and new rebuild kits and rubber intake mount. My first intension was to make it into a sporty looking Fulvia with no bumpers and cromodora wheels and the like, but as it was so original looking I kept it standard. I go to the odd local car show now and again and do not see any Fulvia's . I only see them at the NEC classic car show which I like to go to and only see one or two there. So comparing to other out there I can not comment how good or bad it is to them. all I can say is I like it.
So if your looking for a Fulvia RHD its worthwhile coming to take a look at this one . I would love to keep it , but only have space for one car in my garage and my other Fulvia and mini need to be started I would like to sale it .
