Just look at it! This is a very well looked after, garage kept example of the highly praised French hot hatch - The Clio 172 in Exclusive trim where only 172 units were produced making for a very rare iteration. The exclusive editions came with a leather interior & Scarab green paint.
This example is a bit different though. In the last few months the car was converted into the ultimate fast road yet ?dailyable? car. Thousands upon thousands has been spent over the last 2k miles making for a rather special Clio 172. Lots of original parts are present and to be sold with the car so can be taken back to standard if the buyer wishes to do so. You get 2 cars in one! Cosmetics - The cars interior and exterior condition is impeccable for the age and mileage featuring minimal marks inside and out. The paint work is nice and bright with no fading, all wheels are in great condition, drivers bolsters not overly worn and overall just a cracking little car to look at.
Mechanics - Now, you will be pleased to hear the cambelt, water pump and dephaser has just been changed for genuine Renault parts. Gearbox has just had an oil change, clutch has just been replaced, RMS just replaced, MAK XLR wheels with new Toyo Proxes TR1 tyres, new K-TEC coil overs, Turn one steering wheel, JMRS induction kit and Ram air cone filter, coolant flushed and replaced + coolant bottle, new radiator, new aircon condenser, new aux belt, throttle body stripped and cleaned, new TVD, new injectors, new v belt tensioner, new fuel filter, new top mounts, new drop links, throttle cable replaced, rubber cap on manifold replaced, oil change using Mobil Super, new battery, new spark plugs, 4 wheel alignment, KTR stealth exhaust, new gearbox mounts, new coil pack, new engine Mount, new HT leads, new track rod ends, new very taught and sharp) , Full service just completed, ignition system overhaul including spark plugs, HT leads and coil pack, engine mounts replaced, general inspection over the car also carried out and any thing that needed doing has now been done so she really is a good, well sorted example that wants for nothing. Total spend over the last couple of thousand miles is absolutely ridiculous. The headlights and tail lights have been swapped out for modern counterparts. But rest assured all these have been kept from headlights to new genuine Renault dampers. To get all this for a smidge under £5k is ridiculous and has got to be one of the most sorted currently in the market.
The 2. 0 172 engine is a genuinely powerful and robust unit that makes a very thrilling experience with lots of intake noise, it is truly engaging. Just what you want from a hot hatch.
History - This little Clio comes with a great history file with lots of invoicing and a stamped up service book.
Reasons to own? - With interest early 2000s hatchbacks on the rise, prices seem to also be steadily on the increase so getting in early is never a bad idea. The Clio 172 is a true favourite amongst the driving enthusiasts praised for sharp handling, lightweight structure and good power. These cars really are hard to beat for sheer driving pleasure at this price point.
