Description
Triumph Dolomite 1500 HL. Manual with overdrive. Runs and drives very well. In fact, it seems to me to be very quick for a 1500, although I couldn't say if the engine has had any upgrades. It may be just set up well. The previous owner said that it had completed the round Britain reliability run a few years ago.
This is a restored car, the previous owner spending a lot of time and money on it. Many new items have been fitted, including a new front wings, front bumper, lights, plastic grills, window seals and door seals, and most obviously a new set of Minilite style wheels with new tyres. It wears Dolomite sprint badges, but these can easily be changed to the correct 1500 badges, if so desired.
It was subject to a full glass out respray in Triumph Pageant blue, its original colour. Unfortunately, as this was a 'home' respray, the quality is not great. Preparation and application could have been better, but having said that, stand a few feet away, and it looks great !
The sills, underside and inner arches are all solid, with some evidence of welding repairs, but not a great deal. All areas have been rust treated and sprayed with a black underbody sealer.
The interior is clean and tidy with an age related patina, but perfectly useable.
Unfortunately, I don't have any service history or documentation relating to the restoration, but to sum up, this is a very useable classic, tax and mot free, and cheap to insure..... I paid £84 fully comp, for the year. Use as is, but there's always room for improvement.
