1970 FIAT 500
I purchased this car in 2020 and I has enjoyed the car immensely, but i now find that we wish to concentrate on other projects and thus it is time to sell this lovely example of the desirable round speedo, metal dash Iconic 500.
Restored by its previous owner (So that he could complete a rally to Italy and back) the works undertaken during 2018, included a new floor-pan, outer sills, new uprated 24mm drive-shafts, coupling joints and associated parts, new wheel bearings front and rear, reconditioned stub axles, new brake-shoes, wheel cylinders and lines.
The engine was re-built with new barrels and pistons, a re-conditioned cylinder head, new valve guides etc, along with a new exhaust, new carburettor, new fuel pump, re-conditioned dynamo, new fuel tank, new wheels and many other smaller parts and gaskets.
This Summer we replaced the Clutch (the original was rather harsh and this one has a much more progressive feel) fitted a new set of brake drums, a new fuel pump, Magnetti Marelli Coil, new set of points, new bob weight springs in the distributor, new plugs, new set of plug leads, adjusted the handbrake and various other small jobs, these works were completed in my workshops where we restore Pre & post war racing cars.
Our car presents very well, the engine bay being in smart condition with all the tinware blasted and painted, the paintwork is exceedingly smart but by no means concours, the interior is delightfully original, although new carpets have been fitted.
Driving very well, we shall be sad to see the 500 leave but its ready for its next chapterSo I got this one at the time because it was the best one around for the money but it’s time to let it go as I’m looking at doing a new project
