This car is for spares or repair and does drive, but requires work to the exhaust system and brakes for it to pass an MOT test.
There are a number of spares which come with the car which include a brand new boxed catalytic converter (£1500), new exhaust rear section complete (not pictured, £220), new pre-cat lambda sensor (£280), new cabin filter, new gearbox mount and used Honda workshop manuals.
I bought the car last year and immediately gave it an oil and filter change and it has done very little running since then. The exhaust problem is the downpipe flange corrosion which requires replacement before the new system can be fitted.
The brakes require several pipes replacing and a general overhaul of the system.
The bodyshell is in excellent condition due to being made of aluminium but unfortunately, there is a dent in the drivers door and
the passenger door mirror is missing its glass. Also the bonnet is damaged around the latch so does not close properly.
The traction battery requires fully charging, but does take charge and starts the engine (silently!) despite its recent lack of use.
Lifetime mileage is 77mpg which is higher than my other Insight.
There is a crack in the windscreen in the bottom right corner and does not affect vision.
The wheels were recoated by the previous owner and the tyres are all 2018 Michelins with some perishing.
Second gear does crunch on the downchange, which is a common problem, requiring a gearbox strip to rectify.
These are the main issues and there may be others that I have missed, but it is a project car requiring work and I have not had the car on the road to fully assess it. These cars do give impressive mileage if driven accordingly. They are rare and stylish and have excellent engineering from Honda. My previous Insight had 315000 miles on it and plenty of life left too.
This car could be put back on the road with a little effort and as it is a UK car, VED is zero and it is ULEZ compliant.
The car can be test driven on a private track (noisily...) and with the value of the spares, especially the catalyst, I hope you will agree that it is a bargain.
