A fantastic opportunity to own a one of a kind Land Rover 110 County station wagon with 9 seats. The vehicle has undergone a no expense spared rebuild on a new heavy duty Marsland chassis with a new bulkhead, new doors and new roof. The quality of finish is much higher than when it left the factory and much higher than 99% of the rebuilds you see.
The rebuild was carried out about 5 years ago but the vehicle is still in tip top condition and a lot better than the last of the run factory Defenders known as the Puma which had the weak transit van engine and gearbox coupled with lots of unreliable electronics and ECU's, rusty steel doors and the accounts cheeped out on everything they could get away with. This vehicle cost considerably more than the asking price to put together.
It has a tuned and recently serviced 300 TDI engine which provides plenty of power and is like it's reputation, super dependable. This is mated to a Ashcroft R380 gearbox which is very smooth and a Ashcroft LT230 transfer case.
It has the heavy duty Salisbury Wolf military axles with billet driveshaft flanges turning guine military Wolf wheels with BF Goodrich MT tyres.
All in all it's the drive line you want for trouble free motoring and long term use, this is what people drive across Africa in not the new ones.
Inside the interior has been re upholstered by Exmoor trim and then covered with the canvas Exmoor trim seat covers. The wooden wheel also from Exmoor trim is much nicer to hold than the factory plastic ones and is great to look at while driving along. The new roof is equipped with a sunroof which transforms the cab making it a light and airy place to be. It has heavy duty floor mats and a high quality mesh dog guard. There is a top quality Kenwood stereo with Alpine speakers installed and the sound quality is very good.
It was subtle styling ques that are reminiscent of the earlier 109 V8 making the overall appearance understated and sophisticated unlike most which are covered in tacky bits of screwed on extra plastic bits. With the recovery eyes and steering guard on the front and recovery eyes and full towing equipment on the back it's also ready to work and at home in the muddy forests or open moor land as well as tugging a trailer along the motorway.
The roof rack is an aluminium top of the line model with a checker plate rear section which makes loading much easier and provides a deck area when the roof tent is fitted. It has a rear access ladder and the rear of the body is fitted with a body mounted swing away spare wheel carrier so the weight of the spare wheel isn't hanging on the rear door. The roof tent is included in the sale but is currently not fitted but can be installed in about 10 minutes with two people.
It is fitted with the factory alarm and immobilizer.
I've owned the vehicle for about 3 years in which time I have driven it many trouble free miles. I'm a classic car enthusiast and like to look after the vehicles in my care so it's been subject to regular oil services including the gearbox, transfer case and axles. It's fitted with a Piper cross high performance air filter inside the factory canister which is washable and reusable. The other filters have been changed regularly. It's recently had all new heavy duty GKN prop-shaft UJ's and additional shaft spline gaiters I've towed with it a number of times but only light work moving average size classic cars on the motorway and it's been great.
There are a few minor defects due to use, primarily paint chips and a small amount of bubbling along the edge of two of the doors. The window tint film in the rear of the vehicle is faded and could do with replacement otherwise the body work is straight and undamaged.
There are numerous upgrades and extras which improve the appearance, usability and reliability of this truck making it as I said before one of a kind and truly stand apart from the rest. It's at home on the farm or parked outside a 5 star hotel, wherever it goes it attracts positive attention, admiration and comments. It is what Land Rover intended a truly versatile vehicle which makes you feel proud to own.
