Beschreibung
Alfa Romeo 1600 GT Junior Zagato, Chassis no AR 3060138, produced on 18 January 1974, delivered new to Brussels, Belgium on 11 February 1974, and registered on 12 April 1974. A total of 402 1600 Zagatos were produced, of which around 125 remain still accounted for worldwide.
Original colour Grigio metallizato, with black vinyl interior.
File contains photos of full body restoration between mid 2002 and late 2004. The chrome trim is original and shows some patina. The interior remains original, with the Zagato embossed carpets still in place, albeit rather worn.
The original owner was a Dr Mossiat in Brussels, and it had 4 further Belgian owners until I bought it in November 2021, and imported and registered it in the UK.
In my ownership the car has been maintained and significantly improved, with a full mechanical overhaul by 105 series guru Neville Byford and the well-known ex- Maranello head of service department Vince Mezzullo.
The engine has been fully rebuilt, with Classic Alfa fast road camshafts, 123 distributor, new coil, water pump, fuel hoses, and thermostat. Uprated brake discs and calipers, new brake and clutch master cylinders and brake pipes have been fitted. The suspension has been rebuilt with new bushes, wheel bearing, new rear propshaft, uprated front springs, Koni Sport dampers, and sport anti-roll bar at front.
It has Cromodora Star alloys fitted with Continental tyres and the original steel wheels are also available with almost new tyres. The engine is not the original one but the corresponding block is with the car. The original suspension parts and some mechanical and electrical spares are also available.
Currently it is registered on GLH11M. The DVLA issued number was BBK938M, to which it will revert on sale. The car is welcome at any event and much admired and photographed - it has been pictured in the AROC magazine on a number of occasions. Mechanically it is very strong, lovely to drive and has covered 10, 000km with me, including a trip to Portugal. I am reluctantly selling to make space for an exciting new project.
