Great condition 1970 VW Beetle

An older restoration but still presents really well. The restoration was completed around 2012, and then sat in the owner's garage for the next 11 years, only coming out for the local classic car show and covered very few miles over that period.

This car was subject to a full restoration by the previous owner over a 10 year period from 2002 to 2012. It comes with an extensive file of every receipt over that period. The parts total was £4087, which if you bought those parts today would be nearer £7, 000. He also spent a further £3443 on labour (what would that cost now? ), mostly having all the rusty panels removed, new floor pans, heater channels, inner wings, rear quarter panels, rear valence, new front wheel well, 4 new wings, new heavy duty running boards, new top quality bumpers and bumper irons fitted.

Mechanically it was thoroughly gone through as well. It had a new clutch, new exhaust, new heat exchangers, new fuel pump, new brakes (drums. shoes, hoses, master cylinder) new shock absorbers.

It was also professionally repainted to a high standard, and still looks good today. All the body seals (doors, windows etc) were replaced and new brightwork added.

The interior was subject to a full professional restoration with a superbly fitted headlining, new carpets, a full TMI repro red interior kit with new seats covers and door panels. The seats even had new correct horse hair pads installed.

Since I bought the car it has had to have remedial work, mainly due to the vehicle's lack of use over the previous 11 years.

I have fitted a full set of new shock absorbers, put a new fuel line in from the tank to the engine, re sealed the fuel tank, fitted dropped front spindles (have the original ones if you want to put it back to stock height), new track rod ends, all front suspension geometry set up correctly. New 12 volt battery, new bumper impact strips front and rear, Madmatz rubber floor mats, sourced a genuine Formula steering wheel from the correct era, also a genuine Formula horn push, and Flat 4 GT hub and boss kit (not cheap but the end result looks stunning). I also sourced a set of age correct dated Lemmerz steel wheels with genuine EMPI centre caps. (I also have the original steel wheels and hub caps which are in like new condition which can come with the car if required)

Lastly, it has a set of genuine Cartune exhaust tips fitted (these are the original ones with wider flared tips than the new Cartune tips you can buy now). Suffice to say the car runs beautifully, and sounds awesome. It is not a concours/ show car, but you can turn up at any classic VW event or classic car show and get lots of great compliments about this very cool beetle.

Totally restored, jump in and drive useable classic VW. Great colour combo of Black with red interior, looks and sounds great.
