Description
1991 Toyota Celica Coupe 2. 0-16v GTi
Up for sale, is this superb little retro, UK suppplied Toyota Celica, in metallic blue and with grey cloth interior. In overall VERY good condition for its age, 120k miles with service history and owners booklet… 2 keys, usual age related marks, but complete with a full mot, no rust, excellent engine and auto transmission, easily useable as a daily driver too! V5 clear and present, no unsavoury history, just a genuine and honest little car, that is appreciating in value by the month.
EXTERIOR:
The paintwork is fairly decent, it does come with some flaws and imperfections… but it’s all the same colour and gets plenty of attention! There are minor scuffs on the bumper corners, door dings on both sides and a small one on the sunroof… No rust bubbles at all, slight lacquer peel on the spoiler edge, minor curbing on all the wheels, drivers door has some paint reaction in places and needs wet sanding back to sort it.
Otherwise, it is a solid 7/ 10 visually, benefits from very new all matching Dunlop Sport tyres, all the lights work, electric tilt/ slide sunroof works… only thing that needs looking at is the electric antenna doesn’t work, so the radio signal is not great. I do have the original 14” alloys, with very good tyres, that will be included in the sale… the old alloys need refurbing.
INTERIOR:
Inside is actually really clean… could do with a bit of a valet and new mats adding, but is tidy and all in tact, no rips or wearing in the seats, small worn bits on the drivers door card, but not really something you notice. All the electrics work, really quite roomy inside, even in the rear seats… Modern JVC radio, but as I stated, it needs the aerial freeing or replacing. Has USB connection to a phone, but not Bluetooth… Very comfy though and a pleasure to be inside.
MECHANICS:
The car fires up first time, no issues at all… In true reliable Toyota style, it’s mechanically sound and the 2. 0L motor sings along, with a lovely note! The last mot flagged a very minor oil leak, but it’s very minor and generally dry beneath.
Automatic transmission selects gears perfectly and has the selectable overdrive, plus a Sport type button for more responsive gear change. It does drive incredibly well and is a joy at all speeds!
Huge list of recent work undertaken, including:
New Cambelt and waterpump fitted, Oil & filter change, transmission fluid & filter change, antifreeze change, front and rear discs and pads, all 4 tyres, rear windows tinted… all this done in the last 800 miles!
The only thing I know that will eventually want doing, is front left CV joint… not a massive fix, but that would make it mechanically spot on! Doesn’t affect the drive though, which is smooth and effortless.
SUMMARY:
A very rare car these days and appreciating all the time… a genuine example, no modifications, could be a daily driver without issue, and being Toyota, will go on for ever… huge 120k mile service, means it is ready for a new owner and years of fun driving ahead. Fix a few cosmetic flaws, and you have a perfect Toyota Celica!
