I bought this 20th anniversary imported mk5 ST183 GT-R 6 years ago with the intention of restoring it to a high standard. Lack of time and now space means that it has to be sold. I replaced both sills, the radiator, cambelt kit & water pump, discs and pads all round and serviced it. At the moment everything works, except the air conditioning - a replacement condenser is required, and there is a warning light on for the four wheel steering that I haven’t investigated. The only other issue I am aware of is the tyres won’t pass an MOT. As the car is very low mileage for the age I have carried out the checks available and am happy the mileage is correct. Also, things like the trim, seats and roof lining etc being in such good condition for a 35 year old car leave me in no doubt. It starts perfectly every time, everything not mentioned above works (seat adjust, blowers, etc, etc) and will not need much to be a roadworthy car. The only significant issue is the paintwork - the bodywork is good with no cosmetic corrosion but the paint is poor all round. With a repaint, wheel refurb and good detailing inside, this car would be a real daily driver, retro, Japanese coupe that would stand out from the rest. When I bought it, 6 years ago, it was supposed to be in the condition that it’s in now! The previous owner didn’t provide a very good picture of the condition (and that is me using my words very carefully!). After much mechanical work it’s now in the condition it should have been when I bought it. The underside has been greatly improved with new sills (one full and one partial ) and welding everywhere required. As I am a professional mechanic I did the best work I could and am happy that any buyer would agree. In my opinion the car will probably only need four tyres for an MOT. To have a proper, reliable and usable car that will qualify for free tax and MOT exemption in a few years, I couldn’t find better. If the wheels are refurbished, the bodywork painted and the interior properly detailed it will be a really good retro Japanese coupe!
