Description
Capots Vintage, a specialist in prestige and classic vehicles in Lyon, is offering for sale what may well be the most beautiful saloon in the world, or at least the fastest of its era: a 1962 Jaguar MK2, powered by a 220bhp 3. 8-litre engine with a Borg Warner three-speed automatic gearbox. Presented in its Striking Dark Blue combination with a beige leather interior, we know from the Jaguar Heritage that our Jaguar left the factory on 30 August 1961 to be delivered new by the New York dealership, which underwent a complete overhaul in 2001. The cost of the work amounted to around €30, 000, justified by the large file of invoices we have: all the engine, transmission, brakes and power steering were overhauled, the body was also stripped bare, the chrome was changed, as was the beige interior with its wood panelling.
In 2023, this MK2 received a complete overhaul of the braking system, suspension, tyres, stainless steel exhaust, power steering, fuel system (carburettors, electric fuel pump, fuel circuit and tank) and ignition system (electronic ignition, coils and spark plugs). The total cost of this overhaul is €20, 000, bringing the total of maintenance and repair bills to over €50, 000 since 1997 (excluding the purchase of the car). There are no charges.
