1968 VW Beetle 1500 US spec LHD 3 owners from new in superb condition.
I have owned ‘Billy’ since 2018 and am having to sell due to my health issues.
The first owner was Sam Weill Junior, who was President of Competition Motors, Hollywood, California from 1953 to 1975.
The Company supplied the beetles for the Herbie movies and James Dean bought his ill-fated Porsche from there. Billy was Sam’s daily driver, owned by him from new, until his death. His wife then moved to the UK and brought Billy with her.
Billy is completely standard and was restored in 2012. I have all the MoT’s since 2009 and invoices for approximately £6k for the work, also invoices for work carried out for the second owner.
There are copies of the US Certificate of Title, Import Duties and UK DVLA paperwork.
Billy has front disc brakes from new. I replaced the front seat belts with inertia belts ( and have kept the original ones). The rear seat belts are original. New battery (12v) and power spark electronic ignition distributor and coil were fitted last year.
A box of various spares and a spare set of Beetle Marathon wheels with good tyres, workshop manuals and a factory tool roll also a spare ignition key. (The ignition key fits doors and engine cover locks - so it’s is the original)
There is a CD player in the glovebox. It has a correct owners manual.
Billy is in very good condition, always garaged and serviced by me and I would like to pass him on to another enthusiastic owner.
11/ 05/ 24 I’ve added a few more pics as it’s such a beautiful sunny day
(please excuse the washing on the linen line!)
