Audi A4 3. 0 Sport Convertible multitronic: Beautiful Caribbean Pearl paintwork with rare Anis yellow Pearl Nappa leather upholstery, grey Birch polished wood cappings and Atoll Blue cloth roof. This was a special order and unique vehicle, you will not chance upon another with this combination of paintwork, interior colour, real wood trim and the wondeful 3 litre engine,

Timewarp specimen with only 54, 000 miles from new, full Audi main dealer service history. This is the best A4 Cabriolet on the market, not just by virtue of its low mileage and low owner status, but its outstanding condition, its special order colour scheme and the fact that is has the best engine fitted, the brawny 3. 0 litre 30V petrol V6 powerplant, which cannot be compared with lowly 1. 8Ts and dirty diesels that abound.

Unlike the 3. 2FSI which replaced this, and the S4 4. 2 V8, the 3. 0 "ASN" engine is belt driven and therefore does not suffer the endemic timing chain stretch malady and the cripplingly expensive repair bills. My A4 3. 0 Convertible had its timing belt, tensioners and water pump replaced in 2022 at 49, 000 miles by Audi of Stratford-upon-Avon, so is good for another 7 years or 75, 000 miles. This is the 5th A4 3. 0 litre Convertible that I have owned and they have all been absolutely smashing motors.

Extra-cost options: Pearlescent paintwork, pearl nappa leather upholstery, electric front seats, real polished wood mouldings, Audi integrated satnav system, Bose hi-fi system and CD autochanger, rare bi-Xenon headlamps, headlamp pressure wash system, enhanced interior lighting, 18-inch 9-spoke alloy wheels, multitronic automatic transmission, Audi mudflaps front and rear, Audi wind deflector.

In addition to being in a beautiful scheme it also benefits from a particularly high specification. The gorgeous 9-spoke alloy wheels are the best design that this model could be fitted with and really set the car off to perfection. Once the power roof is put down, onlookers can see what an opulent and striking interior this car has.

The A4 Convertible was a clean sheet design, it has superbly penned lines, there is not a bad angle, and was an instant design classic from its launch. Unlike the contempary BMW, SAAB and Mercedes convertibles, the Audi A4 does not share any body panels with its humdrum saloon and estate counterparts, and the headlamps, tail lights, bumpers and interior are all unique to the Convertible, part of the reason why it really has not dated like its competitors, it still looks fresh, lithe and beautiful.

The driving experience is something to behold, creamily smooth and effortless performance, enhanced by stepless gear changes from the multitronic transmission. The engine is refined and powerful but has enough of a growl, with the accompanying fruity exhaust burble to let informed bystanders know this is not the ubiquitous feeble entry level model. In fact, you will pay no more in tax, insurance or maintenance to enjoy an A4 3. 0, you would have to be mad to opt for a 4 cylinder 1. 8T or 2. 0TFSI, those engines are reliant on spiky turbo power delivery, and any mechanic will tell you you are better off with a large and unstressed naturally aspirated engine, and in real world driving will find it no more thirsty.

Not only does my A4 differentiate itself by being in outstanding and original condition throughout, but being a specialist in the model, I have spent a huge number of hours detailing and future-proofing it, so it genuinely is the best example for sale and a truly "turn key" modern classic for the discerning Audi enthusiast.

This vehicle was ordered new by a wealthy lady in Warwickshire, to her special specification from Listers Audi of Coventry. She was to keep the car for over 20 years, covering a scant 3000 miles annually, it being a high days and holiday car, and often used for returning to her native France. The car was always garaged, and until I had my VAG specialist service it this February it had never been maintained anywhere other than the Audi main dealer at Stratford-upon-Avon. It has been maintained regardless of cost.

Being garaged and so cossetted is such a boon as two of the most common areas which let your typical A4 convertibles down hugely are the headlamps and the convertible roof.

These happen to be the very expensive and rare Xenon headlamps, and being stored under cover means they have not succumbed to the UV damage which almost every car has, these headlamps look as pin sharp crystal clear and stunning as when new. While headlamp restoration can make for a temporary improvement, they will never look as great as these original headlamps do. I shudder to think how much new replacement headlamps from Audi would cost.

The heavy glass rear screen separates from the roof fabric which not only looks horrid but allows rain water to wreak havoc with the vehicle's electronics, often to the point of rendering a car scrap. As this car has been garaged, the rear screen is totally sealed and the original factory roof is in absolutely beautiful condition. To replace the roof skin on one of these models leaves no change from £1500, and the quality of the replacement roof cover will never get close to matching that of the genuine Audi original cloth roof.

Whilst any car can be repainted, retrimmed and overhauled, what can never be acquired retrospectively is a gold seal provenance. This car has only 54, 000 miles, full Audi service history, its original stamped up service book and all the other manuals in its owners folder, a dossier of invoices too. It was ordered brand new as a special order car, and is a unique vehicle. Its original lady owner kept it until 2023 and it had one enthusiast owner since. It has the best engine the A4 Convertible could be ordered with.
