For sale is my Meissen Blue 356 Speedster Replica.
The car was made by Vintage Speedsters in the USA in 2012 for a UK customer. I am the third owner on the car and purchased it in April 2017 with only 4, 000 miles.
I have since covered just under 14, 000 miles and the car reads 17, 800. The car has been to Paris, Monaco, Pisa, Florence, Lake Como, Zurich and Stuttgart. Completing an amazing 3, 000 mile road trip.
I have made subtle changes to the car in my ownership adding things like the luggage rack, bumper guards and a new “retro” look stereo system with hidden speakers under the dash to maintain the right aesthetic.
The car has been garaged throughout its life and in my possession only been used in the Spring/ Summer months. Anytime the weather is nice and clear, it gets driven. Luckily there have been no major mechanical issues during my ownership. These cars are so simple and arguably maintenance free provided they’re looked after and regularly serviced.
The Vintage Speedsters bodies are the most accurate type available in the UK. Whilst the body is fibreglass, the edges of the panels are much sharper and without radiuses found on so many other cars. The panel gaps are second to none. The front headlights are in the correct lower place with no crease above the headlight. These details all contribute to it being mistaken for a real one all the time. Those who are fanatical can even buy an umbrella handbrake kit to go under the dash if they so wish.
The number plate does not come with the car, and it will revert to its original plate issued by the DVLA when imported in 2012. The car is registered as a Volkswagen 356 Recreation. The car is recently MOT'd and has just had a major service along with rear brake cylinders and shoes. There is also no Road Fund License (Road Tax) to pay. I pay just over £200 a year to insure it with an agreed value of £50, 000.
If you’re looking for an excellent useable example of a 356 Speedster, you will struggle to find a better example in the UK.
The car comes with great paperwork/ history and a car cover. This is arguably the most photographed Speedster replica in the UK. It's a well known car in the UK groups. If you want a car that is a cut above the rest, then this is it. Having owned another brand of replica for 6/ 7 weeks before returning it to purchase this, I can definitely recommend the American cars over those made in the UK.
