Custom Built Porsche Body on Later Model Frame / VW

The Porsche 356 replica originated in the 1970s with the original manufacturers using a shortened VW pan but not adequately reinforcing the body. This meant that these early examples were prone to body flex with improper body fittings and panel line-ups.
Eventually a few of the custom builders engineered a new type of structure beginning sometime in the late 1980's with a custom built jig welded 2x4 inch 11 gauge steel frame with an original VW pan restored, shortened and welded to the new steel skeleton. The rigid new structure retains the original VW pan designed by Dr Ferdinand Porsche and integrates the largest frame possible.
Only these steel frame replica cars will pass the renown Jack Test which the original replicas would fail due to body flex. For over 25 years JPS Motorsports has been building award winning 356 speedsters and coupe replicas with now well over 400 satisfied customers around the world.
The car has a VW air cooled engine and the car has a 1968 VW title which represents the manufactured year of the original donor pan, with most insurance companies including Hagerty Classic Auto Insurance and Allstate and 'Heacock Classic' all covering these replicas, and whose contact information is listed on our Finance page on our website. These cars are smog exempt.
The striking 'Ruby Red' paint is in absolutely beautiful condition and the Camel interior is also in as new condition throughout with no signs of wear. Please note that as you will notice in the photos there is a small tear in the fabric covering the emergency parking brake which will be replaced prior to sale.
This particular model must be seen to be believed and driven to be fully appreciated - the car drives and looks as good as new - the engine is extremely strong and responsive with no oil leaks, the transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the temperature always remains cool. Drives virtually like a new car - you could never tell the difference!
