MGB LE Roadster - One of the very last built, completely original.

The car was built at Abingdon on 2nd and 3rd October, 1980. It was registered on 10th March 1981.
There are 2 previous owners on the log book, the current family have had the car for 19 years.
The car sits on it’s original wire wheels. The Bronze paint is in excellent condition, the ‘deck chair’ seats also original, with new stuffing in the seat squabs.

The overdrive works well, the engine starts first time, gear changing is smooth and the running gear in good order.

There is a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate with the car to prove it’s provenance and originality.

The car spent 6 years in an air conditioned garage with very little use.

If you want a car in good unrestored condition this could be it. the mileage of 66 thousand on the clock is confirmed correct by all owners. The car has always been garaged.
Bodywork: Finished in original factory Bronze this colour really stands out in a crowd. It has a lovely deep and even shine, a testament to all the owners care. It is in amazing shape and apart from a few very minor user marks that can only be seen under close scrutiny it is excellent, the door gaps and panel fits are factory standard, genuinely original unmolested cars in this condition are getting very rare

Interior: Is also very good the factory ‘deck chair’ seats are in good condition with headrests. The original floorwell carpets have been replaced. The dash is all good, gauges working well. The radio has lost it’s flip out panel and the clock is not working.

Engine bay: Is very good with the original engine still in place and with the original rotor arm ignition. its very tidy and dry and has been well serviced and maintained. Oil pressure is correct and the car pulls very well. The car really drives with a nice tight feel gearbox is perfect and the overdrive works as it should. Refurbished carburettors were fitted 2 years ago.

The original wire wheels [painted] are in good condition and nearly new tyres

Boot area: Is also in good order with all of the factory paint in place , there is a matching wire wheel spare.

A new hood was fitted a thousand miles ago and remains in new condition. A tonneau cover and hood cover are in the boot along with the jack and a copper hammer for the wire wheels. It has a wind deflector fitted.

Summary: This is not a perfect concours car, rather an excellent driving car which will shine at classic car shows. At 66000 miles it is probably one of the best original low miles / low owner MGB LEs available today.

We will welcome viewers with a nice cup of tea. We live 2 miles from junction 45 of the A1[M] in West Yorkshire.

This car is in original condition, no restoration and no problem rust. Sailed through its MOT with no advisories to September 2024, both the mechanics commented on the excellent state of the car. Yesterday we happily completed a 120 mile drive with Wetherby Classic Car Club for ‘National Drive It Day’. The car is a historic vehicle, thus zero cost road tax, ULEZ compliant.
