Description
Alfa Romeo GTV 3. 0 V6 (with Q2)
£6, 000
Pretty much all of the expensive jobs have been done recently but due to personal circumstances I regretfully have to sell my GTV having owned it for over twelve years. As you can see from the photographs it’s externally immaculate but has also had much done underneath that the photos won’t show.
I purchased the car in Feb’ 2012 with very little history and then immediately had close to £4k’s worth of work done by specialists Peak Alfa including the fitting of the all-important Q2 diff. I have tens of thousands of pounds worth of receipts of work done by Alfa specialists. It had done 86K miles when I bought it and has only done 121K now twelve years later. Of late, it is being driven so rarely (less than 500 miles a year) and this is why it’s time for someone else to enjoy it.
It has a full 12 months MOT expiring in May 2025 and I have all the MOTs going back to 2009. There are very few of these cars left now and they are fetching more and more money each year. The amazing engine and the fantastic looks are what I’ll miss the most – it really is one of the best engines ever made. I’ve listed below some good points and bad points:
Good Points
• 12 Month MOT (until May 2025)
• Regularly serviced every year
• Apart from basic jobs all work carried out by Alfa specialists (either Peak Alfa or MVC Alfa)
• Always been kept in a dry garage
• Q2 fitted
• Full respray and all new badges within the last 2 years (photos available)
• Welding done within last 2 years (rear arches and floor)
• 17” Teledial Alloys refurbished within last 2 years
• Full suspension refresh (springs and shocks) within last 2 years
• Full Brake refresh (callipers rebuilt, all new uprated pads etc.) within last 2 years
• New stainless steel Cybox cat back exhaust fitted within last 2 years (subtle but sounds nicer than standard)
• 4-wheel alignment and tracking done within last two years
• Cam belt changed every three to five years (last done July ’21)
• Brown Key included
• Eagle F1 tyres all around
• Recently waxoiled underneath by MVC Alfa
• Recent new battery
• Tens of thousands of pounds worth of receipts attesting to above
Bad Points
• Problem with air conditioning (not just needing a re-gas)
• Interior okay but could do with some TLC
• Alarm removed for now and no fob with key (I have the details of how this can be sorted and who to contact – should be less than £100 to fix)
• 2 advisories on MOT – some play in front roll bar and front inside of tyres worn
It was when I got the respray done and the aero kit was removed that I learnt of the welding that needed doing (some pictures included – though I have around 70 of all work carried out). Since then, it was a case of throwing money at it or lose it and so I can’t imagine there’s another 916 GTV V6 on the market that will give such confidence that there’ll be no expensive surprises in the near future. In fact, with the interior and a few other bits sorted it really would be a fully restored and concourse example. I’ve gone back and forth about selling it for months as I’m sure it will be worth a lot more in the not-too-distant future – but the reality is with my recent change in circumstances it’s just not been driven enough and it’s too nice a car to just sit in my garage. I want it to go to a true enthusiast who understands the value of the history this car is coming with. I can give answers to any questions I’ve not covered; the photos were taken a couple of months ago (though it’s barely been driven since) and I am still giving it a run out so milage will increase ever so slightly (it’s actually just below 121K as I type this).
