Description
The BJ8 is the most desirable of Austin Healey models as it comes with winding windows, folding roof, wooden dash and improved ground clearance. An early phase 2 crossover car, so has the advantages of the phase 2 but the earlier body type with single indicators. 3 litre straight six engine with twin 2 inch SU carbs and loads of torque. 4 speed gearbox plus overdrive for cruising. Bodywork was restored to bare metal in 2014 with correct ice blue colour. Many new parts were installed and chrome work was rechromed. I also fitted a new interior in red vinyl
( Healeys originally had vinyl and not leather) , with new carpets. New wire wheels, suspension and bushes, brakes, brake hoses, radiator, exhaust, etc etc. Serviced with oil and filter changes annually. Huge file of all bills since I purchase the car 14 years ago. Heritage certificate.
MOT till June 25.
The underside of the car is waxoiled.
Matching numbers.
A new hood was fitted in 2014 but thus is only partly installed and will need to be completed by the new owner. I prefer the tonneau which I’ve always used. Left hand drive. The car was originally exported to the USA and brought back to the UK in the 80s by a good friend of mine. He had the major mechanicals rebuilt, used it for a short while and then stored it in his garage for many years until he sold it to me.
