Description
please don’t miss this one it’s one of the best around,
Completely re built MGTD with five a speed box, stainless steel exhaust, full hood and side screens, lots of improvements such as cartridge oil filter adaptor with cover to conceal, electronic ignition and more. all documentation of rebuild including photos included in lever arch files plus owners manual ( reprint) and full workshop manual. The car is immaculate inside and out including underneath. Ive hardly driven the car in the past three years the previous owner having completed a trip to goodwood then small local Edinburgh trips amounted to the majority of mileage since rebuild ( approx 2000miles) Open to very near offers, the car must be viewed as its stunning. There are a couple of minor paint related blisters on the wings , lots of money has been spent on the full ground up rebuild several years and less than 2000 miles ago. Oil and filter plus several winter service measures taking place next week then the car will be wrapped up for winter, I will keep the advert running, a very good investment with not much maintenance costs, the major restore costs having been done!Originally purchased new in the U. K. by an US army person who was stationed in Germany for three years and then took it back to Florida ( note it was as now a RHD vehicle and it was delivered in 1951 but thought to be actually manufactured in 1950) It was subsequently brought back to the U. K. in the late 90s a complete chassis up rebuild commenced in 2012 and was extensive work only being completed 2018, ( this is from photos and invoices kept in a large file, eg five speed conversion box invoice is dated may 2016 ) then sold to its first owner who took it to the Goodwood festival and ran up no more than 2000miles on it, I purchased it from him who delivered it from Edinburgh to me nearly three years ago ( not bad for a octogenarian!), ashamed to say that I have apart from a few four mile trips to my local garage for oil, brake and coolant changes just have not used it at all, it’s stored in a dry garage and I keep a battery trickle charge on it but still take it out along my gravel drive occasionally to keep everything in order, as I mentioned the car has just over 22000 miles on the odometer and we can therefore assume it was totally rebuilt around the 20000 mile mark ( roughly 2018 finishing up resto ) Engine cylinder head number denotes slightly later than 1950 engines so can assume it’s a mk2 engine ( longer spark plugs!) perhaps but more horsepower
I am now into restoring a 66 mustang so need to pass the t onto someone who will have the time to enjoy and care for it
