Given the 287k mileage it's obviously not in perfect condition but is a great and very solid choice for someone looking for a nice drivable 240 estate for day to day use or a great project for someone looking to own one of very few glt estates about. I've owned since october 2022 and it's been amazing on both little journeys and weekends away, happily covering 5k over the past 6 months.
While I've owned it I have done quite a lot of work especially after the last MOT including:
Both rear arches professionally replaced with repair panels and more, plates put in on other areas of the sills and undercoat refreshed to prevent reappearance, welds are very good and it's very hard to tell where the arches were done.
Rear springs replaced with correct GLT spec ones
Rear discs and pads inc handbrake shoes, calipers thoroughly checked over and bled
Replaced fuel tank, sender, in tank pump and filler neck with new parts, OEM spec sender rather than a cheap one so should never need doing again, tank fully painted to prevent rust top and bottom
New slave cylinder and line after previous one developed slight leak
Stainless back box fitted (has a bit of rattle, suspect a stone or debris as it only started after this was fitted and was a second habd part
New headlight reflectors fitted (seriously bright now especially with good bulbs)
PCV and flame trap fully replaced, intake manifold and air meter cleaned and serviced too
Replacement, new style tailgate fitted and tailgate wiring looms replaced, wiring is a common fault at the hinge point and is unlikely to need doing again with high quality silicone sheathed wire for more flexibility
Fully serviced with all fluids (inc diff and gearbox replaced 1. 5k ago) my plan was to drive this around Europe for the summer so was ready to do serious miles but plans changed.
No doubt more I've forgotten after writing all that down, despite all the work I've done it's remained usable as a daily driving car getting me to and from work and everywhere else. Mechanically been absolutely brilliant.
Currently the passenger electric window isn't working (suspect motor as it's been lubricated and is getting voltage) and the central locking isn't working (all actuators and wiring is okay, I accidentally broke the lock barrel mounted switch for it while oiling mechanisms and it's hard to find a good quality replacement, easiest would be to fit a remote key module to replace the switch and have remote unlock). Other than that and the obvious imperfections on the bodywork you're going to get with any older car it's great, interior is a bit tatty but could obviously be cleaned up with some new seat upholstery etc. Bought for grand plans of amazing road trips I've made amazing memories going away for weekends surfing, hiking and more with this car. Tons of space for anyone and anything you need to bring along it's comfortable for any distance and with all the GLT bits and a understated bluetooth radio feels far more modern than many cars 15 years newer. Get's tons of attention and an amazing community of people who keep them on the road with amazing parts availability and knowledge sharing. Priced to sell quickly as I'm moving away for work and don't have anywhere to store it.
3rd Owner from new, includes a set of roofbars for if you ever need to bring yet more stuff with you, a ton of spares ranging from a just incase throttle cable I kept in the car (there's plenty of room and it saves ringing the AA if it ever does break) to a spare headlight and tons more bits and pieces it came with but I never needed
