Description
Some surface rust on roof. No construction defects. Cracked signal light left rear. The car is fully drivable. Has a cruising speed of 70-80km/ h. Top speed is unknown. A very good starting point that does not require welding work or major structural improvements. The first owner was the Norwegian Civil Defense where it served as an ambulance until 1998. It therefore has an additional heater for the goods room. The car has a patina but is very good when it comes to rust. The car was delivered in its current colour, Cement Grey. We drove it from Bodø to Trondheim (700km) without any problems. One of the most rare and charming of commercial vehicles!
The L319 premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1955
These were built by Mercedes-Benz between 1955 and 1967. Larger than a standard van, but smaller than a conventional light truck of the period. The vehicle was offered with a variety of van and truck bodies. Special application and minibus variants (O 319) were also available.
In 1963, the L 319 designation was abandoned. The vehicles were now branded as L 405 (diesel powered) and L 407 (gasoline/ gasoline powered). There was also an L 406 and L 408. This was part of a wider re-branding of the company's commercial vehicle range intended to identify "weight and output data" in model names.
For the 1968 model year, the L319 was replaced by the Mercedes-Benz T2. By this time between 120, 000 and 140, 000 had been produced.
