The Appeal

The marriage of Mercedes-Benz’ 6.3L M100 V8 and its sober W109 executive saloon was a surprising one, but a wholly successful one. Looking for all the world like its lowlier siblings, save for a small rear badge, this 250bhp executive express was the original Stuttgart Q-Car. Even today, the 300SEL 6.3 can show a clean brightly chromed bumper to most saloons.

All good reasons to want this car, a 1969 LHD car finished in a beautiful combination of burgundy metallic with tobacco leather interior. It is an older restoration, but you would hardly know it such is the level of preservation.

The car arrived in the UK in 2017 and has been with the current keeper since 2021. It comes with a huge history file of maintenance.

The W109 6.3 long wheelbase is the sort of car that makes every journey an occasion. With its big seats and roll-back Webasto-style sunroof, it looks hugely inviting.
