Description

1965 Ducati 250 Daytona narrow case single with a UK V5 logbook in my name, on the correct aged Plate. Tax and MOT exempt. Mileage 7926km. I imported this myself back in 2018.

I have restored quite a few Ducati singles back to factory spec. but this is one I wanted to ‘café race’ and add some gold and shiny bits to it. see what you think.

Just finished restoring this. It starts well, Run’s great with good throttle response, both brakes are very good, clutch and gears work as they should.

Complete nut and bolt restore. NB: THERE IS ZERO RUST ANYWHERE ON THIS BIKE

BEAD BLASTED, ZINC COATED AND GLOSS POWDER COATED PARTS BELOW:

Frame, swing arm, centre stand and front fork sleeves

-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------

headlight bowl bead blasted coated and painted silver

-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------

Fibreglass Vic Camp fuel tank and seat and cowl painted in Ducati Rosso Red

New matching twin fuel taps and green fuel pipe

NB: I have lined the fibreglass tank with Bill Hirsh tank liner, it’s the best and only trusted one for fibreglass, and it resistant to ethanol and modern petrol.

-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------

Wheels have been completely rebuilt with new stainless spokes, highly polished rims and hubs, with new wheel bearings. 2 at the front and there are 3 new bearings at the back.

New shoes and springs.

Aqua blasted then Polished top yoke

NEW headlight reflector bowl and glass lens, with chrome removed from bezel and the brass polished. NEW battery, New Coil, New rear brake cable, new chain, New 2-piece exhaust (that was expensive), NEW steering head bearings.

-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------

Completely re-wired, very neat. Electrex electronic ignition and coil, 6v to 12v rectifier and the all impressive Moto Gadget Keyless ignition. (one fob, one master fob, and including one micro glass file to sow into your glove, so you just swipe your glove over the rear cowl to start/ stop the engine.)

new in-line brake switch, LED front and rear lights and warning lights in cowl

rear brake light works fine. Rebuilt original handlebar light switch, for lights and horn.

Horn mounted under rear seat cowl.

New Battery and housing. Charging system works fine, with a red charge light warning if not charging. (original bikes don’t have this), I have incorporated a hidden trickle charge socket and plug-in lead to charge over long periods of storage.

-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------

ENGINE rebuild inc. new gasket set and necessary seals, re-honed cylinder bore, new piston rings. New valve seats and valve seals, no wear on camshaft and rockers. Bevel drive re-shim. New Silkolene classic 40 oil. Oil pump re-built, Perfect engine compression. No oil leaks, starts well.

All bolts on this engine are brass coloured Stainless steel, (NOT cheap), and stainless steel engine brackets.

Kick start lever is re-chromed. New alloy made to measure rear sets. Rear brake is actuated by stainless rod.

Engine was soda blasted, then stripped. Main engine casings are highly mirror polished, whilst the finned barrel and head and covers are vapour blasted.

Carb ultrasonically cleaned, rebuilt with new gaskets, seals and filter.

Forks completely rebuilt with new oil and seals. Fork bottoms are vapour blasted NOT painted.

New rear period classic shock absorbers with new rubber mounts.

Original clip on bars are re-chromed. The original alloy brake and clutch levers are vapour blasted NOT painted.

Handmade seat base and back are covered in alcantara.

The front mudguard and chain guard are handmade in alloy and vapour blasted NOT painted.

EVERY nut and bolt has either been bright zinc plated, or is new stainless. Many bolts around the bike are the same brass coloured stainless to keep the same theme of the engine. Even things you can’t see, like inside the engine or in the wheel hubs.

What can I say? I’ve been very transparent; I’ve Pitched it at the right price. If you want to buy a similar looking 250 , check if it’s had the work and attention that this one has had, and look very closely at their photos, as some are not as restored as stated.

THIS BIKE IS AS NEW. Don’t settle for anything less than completely restored to this standard….. I don’t.

I will answer any questions, so don’t hesitate to contact me.

Regards
