Here I am selling my Ford Prefect 107e, Rosie.
She has her original 997cc OHV Kent engine and 4 speed manual gearbox.
These cars are becoming increasingly rare and it’s very hard to determine how many are left. It’s estimated to be around 52 remaining on the roads.
Absolute dream to drive and puts smiles on faces wherever she goes.
Rosie was first registered in June 1960 and has had quite the mysterious life. In other words, she doesn’t come with much in the way of history but from photographs I have seen online I have made a guess that she may have been a barn find (or similar) at some point and restored.
I have owned her for 2 years now and she hasn’t caused me any trouble, not a single breakdown (touch wood).
No suspicious sounds or knocking, smoke or squeaking. No leaks. Low on rust, just surface stuff.
Around a year ago she had a new brake master cylinder fitted.
The plates are not original to the car, and are non transferable, as seen on the window stamps. They’re now on a Smart Car the last I checked.
Comes with spare wheel and tire iron.
Small jobs I have done since owning Rosie:
- Brake Master Cylinder changed
- Serviced vacuum wiper motor
- Sourced and fitted new grille badge
- New boot script
- Exhaust deflector
- Sourced and fitted new glovebox lock
- Choke cable changed
- Both sidelight bulbs changed
- Both headlamp rubber gaskets changed
Current stand out issues:
- Small hole in the boot floor
- Pitted chrome bumpers
- Dent in nearside wheel arch and door
- Scratches along nearside
- Scratches on passenger window
- Rear door recently had some rust appear at the bottom
The dents and scratches on the nearside paintwork were due to a minor collision, I just never got round to getting it sorted as the mechanicals were my priority, they’re largely unnoticeable and have never particularly bothered me but this has definitely influenced my pricing accordingly.
From a previous owner she has speakers fitted in the front and rear, although whoever removed the radio cut the wires very short and I never bothered to remove the speakers as they were never an issue for me.
She runs very well, and starts on the button every time (mostly). She’s been in almost daily use since I’ve owned her as she is my daily driver.
Wear and tear from daily usage is to be expected and she certainly isn’t concourse!
The 107e was my dream car and I’m glad I’ve had the pleasure of keeping one, but I now have the classic car bug and I don’t have the space nor the conscience to own more than one.
Cheap to insure (even for young drivers), MOT, Road Tax exempt. ULEZ compliant.
Come and have a look at her! Viewing is very encouraged.
Sold as seen, no guarantee given or implied.
Open to offers, P/ X for Morris Minor 1000 (with 1098cc engine)
