Mk 2 Punto 1. 8 16v HGT. Petrol. With the 130bhp variable valve timing engine. 5 speed manual gearbox.
62, 200 or so miles only (note the car is in regular use) and I'm the fourth owner. First owner had the car to 2014 and I can only assume it was kept under cover and used sparingly as bodily it is very good.
Great spec - Orion Grey metallic with the blue/ grey sports interior. RDS radio-cassette with 5-CD changer (old school!), subwoofer, electric windows and mirrors, traction control, ABS, Alarm.
The car is entirely standard mechanically and has had some significant work in the last year: new cambelt, both tensioners, cam variator, water pump, thermostat, plus a full service (plugs, air filter, oil and filter, gearbox oil level check). Plus a recent new gearchange pivot plate as the gearstick was a bit stiff (common issue), and a new exhaust back box. All mechanical work has been done by me (I trade as a Fiat specialist mechanic - search "Auto 500"). In addition I have had the wheels refurbished in original finish, four new Toyo Proxes tyres fitted, brand new OE headlights and side repeaters plus new rear badges.
Body and paint are both excellent and you'll note there is nothing in the MoT history relating to corrosion, unlike a lot of Mk 2 and 2B Puntos. The car has MoT until 10 April 2025.
Full book pack including stamped history to 2014, a wodge of receipts since then (and I stamped the book for the recent cambelt change and service).
The interior is good although with some minor wear to the driver's seat (see photo). The car does have air-con and the compressor does run but the system is weak. I suspect there may be a small leak at the expansion valve joints/ O-rings or possibly the evaporator, as there appears to be air-con dye coming out of the heater box drain. Fixable, but may be a bit involved if air con is important to you...
Goes very well indeed. Overall, surely one of the best and a very sustainable proposition as a classic and increasingly rare hot Fiat.
