Description

1994 FJ1200 3xw
67, 700 miles
New MOT
For sale reluctantly after change in circumstances means I can no longer afford to go motorcycle touring or even keep a second bike. This is the third FJ1200 3xw I have owned, and whilst it might not be the prettiest or tidiest it has been much upgraded for reliability and long distance touring.
It has been fitted with:
Electrex ignition coils
Electrex regulator on the alternator.
Spin-on oil filter conversion.
New Carb jets.
NGK washable air filter.
A good set of original Yamaha exhausts (runs sooo much better than nonstandard ones).
New EBC clutch plates and spring.
Stainless braided clutch hose.
FJ Owners club 10 row oil cooler.
New fuel filter & ethanol safe hoses.
Blue-spot callipers and matching master cylinder.
New Brembo front discs (They don’t warp like EBC’s).
Twin braided stainless hoses on the front and single on rear.
Recent EBC pads front and rear.
Rear vented disc has been replaced with a solid one.
New taper roller steering head bearings.
New front and rear wheel bearings.
Progressive fork springs on the front. Damper oil recently changes.
YSS shock on rear.
Swinging arm and linkage was stripped and greased last year.
Swinging arm has been swapped for earlier aluminium one.
PDOiler, a fully automatic electrically pumped chain oiler. (more than trebles chain and sprocket life).
Auxiliary blade fusebox of a switched 30amp relay (you can just plug-in your satnav or heated grips etc).
Voltmeter & 12volt power socket.
Super comfy touring seat.
Givi Wingrack and fitting kit.
Givi Maxima topbox.
“Works” handlebar conversion with Renthal handlebars.
MRA Touring screen with an adjustable custom made extra height flyscreen. (I’m over 6’2” and the wind goes over my head!).
Extra length wing mirrors.
Front mudguard has been extended to reduce spray on engine, rear mudguard has been extended to keep dirt off the shock.
Also included:
Colour coded Bagster tank cover and tank bag.
Spares I took touring:
Back-up CDI unit.
Spare brake & clutch levers.
Spare push & pull throttle cables.
Spare sparkplugs.
The original FJ1200 toolkit augmented with extra tools.
The bike has a matched pair of Roadriders with plenty of tread left. Chain and sprockets lots of life left. It has recently been serviced, new oil and filter. Valve clearances checked and adjusted, carbs balanced. It has a Motobatt battery and a super bright headlight bulb fitted.
Runs like a sewing machine, and I have done many long trips on this bike.
The bad bits:
Besides the usual age related marks, and cracks in the plastic there is some damage to the fairing shown in the photos. This happened when a driver tipped me off in rush-hour traffic in Paris. I do have a spare fairing I bought some years ago for but it’s the wrong colour. I did intend to respray the whole bike in the JPS black and gold of the earlier models. The fork bushes will need changing the next time the seals are done and there is a tiny amount of play in a couple of the rear linkage bearings.
Bike can be viewed near Tiverton Devon, just off J28 of the M5. Currently SORN but I can deliver it on a trailer for 65 pence a mile upto 150 radius.
