Description
This golf cabriolet is an early 1984 gti model, now 40 years old so is now mot exempt. I bought it for my wife, but she has never driven it and has little interest in classic cars. The car is generally in good condition, the engine performs well without any excess exhaust smoke and the transmission is smooth in all 5 gears. The brakes operate as they should as do the lights and electrics, although the computer display, needs some attention, which is not uncommon in older cars, but can be refurbished if required. The cabriolet hood is in excellent condition, it is the uncomplicated manual type and very easy to put up and take down.
The paintwork looks nice but does have areas of micro blisters so it is a matter of personal choice either to leave as is or at some point have it repainted.
The interior of the car is very nice for the year with little sign of wear on the upholstery.
The underside of the car is sound and the sills are good.
The car looks like an original example for the year without any aftermarket additions or bodykits etc. and needs to be preserved as such. We have an affection for early golfs having had mk2 gti’s in the past and the cabriolet based on the mk1 body shell is an iconic model that is a very useable classic car.
There is an extensive history contained in a folder that comes with the car.
