For sale is our lovely VW campervan. ‘Monty’ is a 1970 Westfalia Pop-top, imported in 2011 from California. Left hand drive.
The bodywork is in very good condition. Over the last 14 years I have carried out various improvements, such as a new hand- built 2 litre twin carb engine in 2019. There is also a brake booster to make stopping easier, and Litesteer power steering makes it a pleasure to drive. The gearbox has been reconditioned, and has better gearing for motorway cruising. The van has been professionally re-wired with a new fusebox.
Inside the original Westfalia look has been kept, with new replica vinyl and new foam. There is a Dometic 12volt fridge powered by a new leisure battery. Also fitted is a solar panel. For cooler evenings, there is a Webasto petrol heater to keep things toasty inside. Newton commercial leather front seats are very comfortable on longer journeys. The original roof and cab hammock are included. I have a lot of history of work carried out since my ownership and also some older history from the years is the USA.
The new engine was installed in 2019 and has done 20, 000 trouble free miles since.
