Description

1970 Mini MK 3 S- Registered in the USA in 2000 and stored for 25 years. Mechanically refurbished in 2020. All hoses, water pump and rad. Brake m/ c with stainless piston rebuild in front calipers, new rotors, wheel bearings, all brake hoses, wheel cylinders, clutch m/ c and slave/ w hose. Brake booster removed but included. New bushings on front suspension. Carbs rebuilt, clutch plunger removed polished and graphite lubed. Twin tanks washed out, new fuel pump and petrol hoses. Camac 165 x 10 tires are 24 years old and should be replaced before any spirited driving. New Bilstein shockers, Sandblasted and painted front subframe. Cleaned and repainted black S engine green to make any oil leaks more visible. New steering rack. New motor mounts, new front screen seal. Converted to dry prior to arriving in the USA. New RC 40 twin box exhaust. This is the low production MK 3 S rhd version. According to John Parnell's book, Original Mini Cooper and Cooper S, the production numbers for the UK rhd MK 3 were total under 800 cars. It deserves to be brought back home. Americans don't understand. The engine might have been modded by Bill Richards as there's his name hand engraved on the alloy valve cover and a Bill Richards window sticker on the rear screen. Also the cylinder head has a stamping on the left side which is 50 and 18. 7. Not exactly sure that that means. The car has twin 1 1 / 2" SU's starts on the first click of the key and is quite peppy when I took it around the block after doing the mechanical refurbishments. The body is very clean. It did have sections of the front floors welded in at some point with original stampings but the welds are proud. Grinding them flat would make the front pans look original. It's also got over sills. No rot on inside of front or rear floors, no rot in rear bulkhead under rear seat pan, no rot on inner sills. I'm guessing the rockers had some rot and oversills were installed. It's got under coating on the whole floor except where I removed it from the front bulkhead floor area. Sheet metal is all very sound and not rusted. Boot floor is like new. I need space as I've got 6 other minis and need garage space so this one has to go. My other minis are all MK 1 and 2. Car is currently registered in my name in New York state, USA. Sale will include a bill of sale and transferable registration/ ownership document. I'll help in any coordination to get it shipped back home. Also have a letter from Heritage Trust identifying this car as genuine.
