Description

I bought the car in 2014 from a dealer and drove it regularly up to 2018 after which it has been in a storage facility in Somerset as I live and work abroad. During this time a great deal of work has been carried out by Jaguar specialists in Swansea and Somerset (Haynes motor museum workshop). Work includes complete overhaul of the gearbox (2500 GBP), brakes, all suspension bushes, steering rack bushes, wheel bearings, injection system overhaul, vacuum idle overhaul, replacement of near side front outrigger, engine tuning and much more. All carried by Jaguar specialists with receipts to verify. The car is currently SORN and will most likely require some minor recommissioning for an MOT (general service, fluids, brakes etc). However, the power steering hoses could do with replacing as there are some slight leaks.
It is not concours though more than presentable with no surface rust or bubbling though the chrome on the bumpers is showing its age. The interior is excellent as is the headlining with only some slight wear to the drivers seat. All the gauges function as they should as does the whole of the electrical system though the electric windows are a bit sluggish.
The engine is as smooth as could be with no issues at all and runs as you would expect from Jaguar's V12. I am selling the vehicle very reluctantly as I am rarely in the UK to enjoy it (I live and work in Nepal). In the past I have driven many miles with absolutely no problems at all. Aside from the fuel consumption, it is a joy and pleasure to drive - one that turns a lot of heads and one I will miss. The vehicle comes with considerable history and all receipts of the work done. Additionally it has a registration that is valued at around 500 GBP. As mentioned, it is not concours and requires some minor cosmetic work to meet its potential and hence, I would like to see it go to an owner who will maintain, drive and enjoy it regularly.
I grew up with Jags during the 70s and 80s (E types, XJ6s and the XJS) as my father used to trade them and to this day, I have a passion for them. These cars were not appreciated when released as they were mistakenly perceived to be a replacement for the outgoing E type. Though the passing of time has proved the last of Malcolm Sayer's designs to be a more than competent GT, even today.
I had always planned to take it across Europe though unfortunately never had the chance due to a number of reasons.
This is genuine sale (reluctant) of a genuine car and I have attempted to describe it in detail as accurately as possible. The photos in the add are all I have of the car as I do not have anyone in the UK who is able to go the storage facility in Sparkford to take more. There last picture of the interior was taken in 2023 when I was last there. I also have a video of the engine running, but not able to unload here.
