Prior to import, the car spent it's entire life in El Paso in the west Texas desert. Accordingly, it remains rust free. It was imported approximately 10 years ago by a serial car restorer who removed the body, cleaned and painted the chassis and purchased various items for the rebuild. That's as far as he got since he also had at least 6 other projects in process! I purchased the car as an unregistered project after the owner passed away.
Since then the car has been completely rebuilt. Since the car was in poor mechanical condition it has been necessary to rebuild and/ or replace most mechanical items. The engine has been comprehensively rebuilt including liners, pistons, connecting rods, all valve gear, Newman cam shaft, alternator, B&B clutch etc. Similarly, the gearbox and overdrive have been rebuilt, as has the final drive and axle. The entire brake and suspension systems have been replaced, there are new chrome wire wheels and tyres, new hood and new seats (TR4A) . The car drives very well and has covered about 150 miles since completion.
I have recently been able to re-acquire the Jaguar XK150 which I sold 30 years ago. This is in temporary accommodation at present but will need to come home soon. The TR4, which I had hoped to keep, will have to make way for the Jag. since I have not garage space for both.
